I'm a fan of bow tie style antennas, if I were you I'd do something like the DB4e.

A DB4e is unlikely to get WBBM, the Chicago CBS station. Try it, and come back for some stronger solutions if you need them.

I agree, its signal is marginal, and it is VHF.....not what the DB4e was designed to receive. Also the PCB balun is excellent for UHF, but has a high loss for VHF.
