Antenna suggestions close to CN tower?

My apartment is just a couple km due east of the CN tower. Unfortunately I am facing north, and the layout is such that I can't put the antenna near a window anyway.

Does anyone have suggestions for an antenna? I was thinking of the Mohu Leaf because it seemed to generally get good reviews and it seems like a no fuss option. However, the site cautions that it may have trouble if you're close to a transmitter.

Ideally I'd like the Canadian channels and the ones coming from Buffalo but realize I'm not in an ideal position.

Here's my tv fool report http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...1ddad2b3460fc3

I'd appreciate any suggestions!

Thanks teleview, unfortunately the unit only has windows facing north. I am in a concrete building surrounded by many other high rises. Also my unit is fairly close to the elevators.

It sounds more and more like I'm in an awful place for reception. Given that there are so many influences reducing reception, would it be better to get an amplified indoor antenna even though I'm so close to one of the main transmitters?

It's ironic, years ago I lived in the suburbs much farther away and I got excellent reception with a cheap pair of bunny ears for less than $10. Now that I'm close to the transmitters I have issues!

There are Many Canada and USA Digital Tv stations/channels to receive.

However.

Your current reception location is Between a Rock and a Hard place.

---->Do Not in any way shape or form use any type or kind of amplified antenna or amplifier.

The Digital Tv transmissions are Very Strong at your location and Will Overload a amplifier and make reception Worse.

The Signal Reflections (Multipath) are Very Strong at your location , a amplifier Will make the Signal Reflections (Multipath) even stronger and will make reception Worse.<----

I recommend a Clear Stream 2 UHF antenna.

http://www.antennasdirect.com/store/...V-Antenna.html.

The antenna comes with a J pole type mounting pole and and a foot stand that provides some flexibility for mounting/aiming.

You must be specific about the CS2 antenna and J pole / metal and plastic foot combination because the CS2 has several combinations avaliable.

Here are some places to buy antennas and etc. , http://www.saveandreplay.com , http://www.trentondistributors.com , http://www.antennasdirect.com.

The CS2 antenna aiming is Experimental.

If there are buildings as tall as or taller then your apartment to the , north west or north east , aim the CS2 antenna at the buildings to receive signal reflections from the transmitters that are to the , south west , south , south east.

Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html

A loooong coax cable is used to allow the CS2 to be moved - Experimental aiming to find the best reception.

And - Yes - can also aim the CS2 antenna other directions.

The Tv Must Channel Scan for the Digital Broadcast Tv Channels , often named the 'Air Channels' or ' Antenna Channels' in the Tv setup menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

Some Digital Tv's will automatic channel scan for cable tv channels.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.

Go into the Tv setup menu and select , 'Air Channels' / 'Antenna Channels'.

Digital Broadcast Tv tuners can develop - Digital Glitches - that are not cleared out with simple channel scans.

It can help to do a Double Channel Scan.

http://www.dtv.gov/rescan.html.

For better Digital Broadcast Tv reception ,

I recommend move to a different<-->apartment<-- , one that faces , south west , south , south east.

Thanks for the suggestions teleview.

Haha although if I could afford to move, select and buy Toronto real estate just for TV reception I think I might not mind being ripped off by cable!
