Help Antenna

http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...1dda21de1afd6c

We are wanting to cut the cord with Directv, but we would like to know what type of an antenna would work for us. We have trees that surround our home and live in an HOA where we cannot have an antenna where it can be seen from the road.

As far as common consumer grade antennae go, Winegard 4 and 8 bay are pretty good.

As far as some rinky dink HOA rules are concerned, they are dead wrong.
They are NOT allowed to enforce antenna, or satellite dish provisions.

Do NOT contact them to try and justify your FCC guaranteed right to install an antenna. You have no need to prove anything, as the federal law is on your side. They are the plaintiff, you are the defendant.
Or, you could just keep quiet, until they waste their time and money filing a court case.

The burden of proof is on them and they do not have a leg to stand on.
Believe me, they will back down real quick, once they hear the letters FCC.

Put up your antenna and enjoy free TV.

I'm really sick of these uppity pukes trying to push around people, who pay good money on their own home.

The Federal Antenna Law is for you so you can install a antenna above your roof that can be seen from the road.

The Onus is on the HOA , and they must pay your legal fees and their legal fees should they choose to pursue the matter.

The Federal Antenna Law is Settled law.

HOA's have Lost , time after time in court.

Beyond the legal issues , there are , Evil , Sick and Twisted people that Hate antennas of all types and kinds.

They hide behind rules and regulations to push their Evil off on to others.

Yours is a Simple reception situation.

Above the roof in such a manner that the Tv antenna will be above the high point of the roof.

Install a Winegard HD7696P antenna with no amplifier aimed at about 185 degree magnetic compass direction.

Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

Here are some above the roof antenna mounts.

http://www.ronard.com/909911.html if using the tripod antenna mount use the 5 foot tripod antenna mount.

http://www.ronard.com/34424560.html if using the eave antenna mount use the #4560.

http://www.ronard.com/ychim.html.

http://www.ronard.com.

Buy the ronard antenna mounts at solidsignal by typing the word ronard in the solidsignal search box or buy from ronard.

Here are some places to buy antennas and etc. , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.amazon.com , http://www.winegarddirect.com.

For 1 Tv connected use No splitter. No amplifier.

For 2 Tv's connected use a simple common 2 way splitter. No amplifier.

For 3 or 4 Tv's connected use a Channel Master CM3414 distribution amplifier.

To avoid hassles with connections to the satellite Tv system.

Remove All satellite Tv hardware such as , multi-switches , diplexers , splitters , power supplies , power injectors , amplifiers, and etc..

And use the satellite system coaxes and other coaxes that are in or on the house for the broadcast Tv antenna system.

Or contact your satellite system installer to see if a broadcast Tv antenna can be connected to the satellite system. Some satellite systems will transfer the broadcast Tv antenna channels through the system and some satellite systems will not , there are many variables , it is not a simple issue.

Even so , to avoid reception problems that will happen with a broadcast Tv antenna connected in the satellite system.

I recommend cancel satellite system subscription and remove All of the satellite system hardware.

And use the satellite system coaxes and coaxes that are in or on the house for the Broadcast Tv antenna system.

Or can install a Separate coax system for the broadcast Tv antenna system.

__________________________

As always , trees and tree leaves do a good job of , reflecting , reducing , blocking , Digital Broadcast Tv reception and so do buildings and other obstructions including your own roof and house.

It is best to install the HD7696P antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in all directions including your own roof and house.

The Tv's Must Channel Scan for the Digital Broadcast Tv Channels , often named the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Digital Tv setup menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

Some Digital Tv's will automatic channel scan for cable tv channels.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.

Go into the Digital Tv setup menu and select , 'Air Channels' / 'Antenna Channels'.

At what point do we become 'uppity pukes' or 'Evil , Sick and Twisted'

Rhetorically; Is it necessary to apply extreme labels in such broad manner? At what point do we become guilty of something just as bad, if not worse, than interfering with another persons right... I sincerely question the effectiveness of an argument that depends on name calling or application of labels to broad groups of people who obviously span a very diverse range of thought, opinion and motivation.

I believe we can advocate for our position on this and other subjects without resorting to name calling, or presumption of others thoughts or character.

I expect that each member is capable of moderating themselves. This thread belongs to the OP, b2471041, please respect them by focusing any further comments on their original inquiry. High-jacking of the thread will not be tolerated. If you wish to discuss OTARD issues in a civilized manner, do so in a separate thread in an appropriate sub-forum.
