Need a good antenna suggestion if possible?

Hi, great forum! I am reading some and trying to learn the ins and outs

I quit paying for cable awhile back, and have been using netflix and watching some OTA channels. I can pull a few in fairly well with some glitching, with just a 8 dollar rca rabbit ear antenna sitting near the tv, but some stations I want to pull in are 20 or 30 miles out. I don't mind mounting a antenna in the attic, but for right now I'd like to stay away from outdoor roof mounting if possible. I would also like to increase the signal strength on the stations I already get. I do have quite a few large trees around the house. At any rate here is my tv signal analysis results if it will help? I read online that the Antennas Direct 91XG is a great antenna, and also the CM4228hd, but I gather the hd is not as nice as the older model. Do I need a antenna such as this, or would I be just as well off with something like a antennas direct DB2? I don't mind spending some money but I would like to keep it at 100 dollars or under if possible. Also how crucial is it to have a preamp can you get away without one for stations under 50 miles etc?

Thanks in advance! I hope everyone has a happy holidays.

Tv Reception with Tv antennas

This recommendation is based on the tvfool radar report of the current and Pending Applications Included for digital tv channels. The digital tv stations in the pink/red zone are Very Weak of signal strength. Reliable and dependable reception means that a Winegard HD7084P antenna will be installed above the roof and aimed at about 249 degree magnetic compass. Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html. Here are some antenna mounts , http://www.ronard.com/909911.html , http://www.ronard.com/345424560.html , http://www.ronard.com/ychim.html. . . WBBJ , WLJT , WJKT , are close and are Very strong tv transmissions so these 3 stations will likely be received through the back and side of the HD7084P antenna. This way only one antenna is used and no antenna rotor is needed. Install new RG-6 coax on the outside. Here are places to by antennas and etc. , http://www.winegarddirect.com , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.amazon.com , http://www.starkelectronic.com , http://www.3starinc.com

Thanks for your help. With my 8 dollar rca rabbit ears, I can pick up the local wbbj channels very well. Like you mentioned, after jan. 1st we are getting cbs added to the local stations so that is a plus.
At times I struggle with the wjkt and wljt stations but they also do come in sometimes with 4 or 5 bars signal strength. I know I would really struggle to get any stations out of memphis without alot of work, so what I really want is just to pull in the ones I can already get with more authority. Since I can already get these depending on the weather etc I had hoped to not have to roof mount and get away with a much better antenna mounted in the attic. Could I mount the HD7084P in the attic and try it that way first? Surely I could pull in alot more doing it this way than with the antenna I have? The current one I am using is rca ANT111R, data code 2114 ph. If there is a more suitable antenna for attic mounting what would it be?

Put the ANT111R in the attic and aim at 249 degree magnetic compass. Here is how to aim indoor antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html. I am reluctant to recommend a lesser antenna then the HD7084P , that cost money and does not really get the job done.

Thanks for the help both of you! I guess for now I will buy a longer cable and work with the antenna that I have since I am not willing to roof mount at this time. Hope everyone has a good holidays.
