TV Signal Analysis Results:

We will be ending DirecTV service later this month and transitioning to OTA reception. Have been looking at the Winegard HD7694P High Definition VHF/UHF Antenna to initially install on the roof and then move into the attic once some insulation work is done.
Questions:
1. Is this antenna appropriate or overkill for our signal analysis? The report here indicates that we should be able to use an indoor antenna to get reception, but antennaweb.org specifies that we need to use a Medium Directional Antenna for the PBS and FOX channels. Could we get away with a smaller antenna, even in the attic?
2. For the attic install: the house is a rambler, oriented lengthwise N/S. Is it better to install on the south end and point the antenna into more empty space inside the attic, or install on the north end and point close to the wall/roof? Roof is asphalt shingles over wood with no insulation above where the antenna would be. All the TVs are on the south end of the house, so there'd be a (much) shorter cable run installing on that end.
Thanks in advance!
