SV8000HD As a Digital Tuner

I have been using SV8000 in Mississauga for the past year only for the OTA channels.. I get 14 HD and 2 SD most of the time.. But do not get Fox and NBS.. i just us the factory file..

Start Frequency 473000
End Frequency 851000
Step Frequency 6000

When it scan it 1 to 64 only.. i heard that some channels are till 69 how do i change the End Frequency to more and the Step Freq as well... I use and 8 bay on the 2nd floor and have bought a CM3414 yesterday to boost the signal a bit but no luck...

Standard US TV frequencies are separated into four groups of contiguous frequency ranges. It looks like your frequency table is looking for the "center" frequency of each channel (one channel is 6 MHz wide, and the center frequency is simply the center of each channel).

For example, channels 2, 3, and 4 are on frequencies 54-60, 60-66, and 66-72 MHz, respectively. The center frequency of each of these channels is 57, 63, and 69 MHz.

The four frequency ranges are as follows (just remember that each channel occupies 6 MHz):

Channels 2-4 are on frequencies 54-72 MHz
Channels 5-6 are on frequencies 76-88 MHz
Channels 7-13 are on frequencies 174-216 MHz
Channels 14-69 are on frequencies 470-806 MHz

The US channels used to go up to channel 83, with channels 70 thru 83 occupying frequencies 806-890 MHz, but those frequencies have been reassigned for other purposes now.

The FCC has already auctioned off the spectrum in the 700 MHz band, so any US TV channels occupying channels will need to vacate those frequencies over the next couple of years (the highest valid TV channel will end up being channel 51, which tops out at 698 MHz).

Your frequency definitions look like they currently go from 473-851 Mhz, which correspond to the center frequencies of channels 14 thru 77. This means that you currently have no way of getting the tuner to go to channels 2-13. Since I'm not familiar with the operation of the SV8000, I'm not sure how you would go about adding the definitions for the multiple frequency groups, but there's probably a straightforward solution to this.

Tv Antennas and Reception

You say you 1 antenna and other antenna. What antenna and preamp is directed at the american stations ?? The CM3414 is 4 way distribution amplifier , how many Tv's are connected?? A distribution amplifier is not a preamplifier. A distribution amplifier accepts a strong signal and increases the signal to provide usable signal at the end of Long cable runs. The american stations are not strong signals , the american stations are very weak signals.

Tks guys for your help... I will try and find out how to add multiple frequency... Regarding the CM3414 i bought that instead of a preamp thinking that it might boost the signal a bit as i do get NBC sometime... And i will be adding another tv shortly hence got that. I wanted to buy the pre amp cm7777 but i cannot get on the roof.. Question can i install it 20 ft away ?? inside my house and then take a line out to my tv.. will that work ?

How many Tv's will you have to connect???? How many Tv Antennas do you have???? You say one is a 8 bay bow , what are the other Tv antennas???? Are there any large trees or large buildings blocking the direction/reception of the american stations???? All of these questions are Important Questions , Answer these Questions.

Tv Antennas and Reception

The American stations. I called WNGS Tv 7 to find out which of the two transmitter sites is transmitted from , it's the one that shows -11.3 NM(dB) , with the co-channel warning and the weak signal WNGS will not be received. So I recommend a UHF antenna the 91XG and a Winegard 4700 preamp. You will need to put the antenna on the roof Up High so the antenna clears the top of buildings in the direction of the American stations. The 91XG is to be used as a dedicated antenna for the American stations and stays pointed at the American stations all the time. Use the antenna you have pointed at the Canada stations to the east. You will be using a remote control A/B switch to switch between the 2 antennas at each Tv location. That means double the coax wiring to each Tv location. Do not combine the 2 antennas on to one coax. http://www.saveandreplay.com

That says that there's something in your antenna & feedline that is amiss. Possibilities are antenna aiming blown off course, water in the feedline, bad balun, poor connection at an F connector, a new building in the way, a change in configuration causing more loss, or a reduction of sensitivity in the receiver.

The way you present and respond to information leads me to believe you are not quite getting it.
