Asking for a friend

You guys have helped me out a ton over the years. A friend of mine recently asked me to help him get set up with an antenna for OTA signals. I ran his TV fool report which is attached:

http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...60ed08c8d6c7cd

They are in between cleveland and youngstown but wish to get as many cleveland stations as possible. They are not interested in a rotatory and also are fairly concerned about the looks of the antenna. For example, wishing for something less noticeable and want to attach it to the front porch roof rather than the roof peak of the house. I ran the report with 20ft as height but it may not be that high as a result.

I was going to suggest a Winegard HD7698P and a CM7778 for them but I wanted to run it by you guys and gals first. I am of course concerned about the size. If you know of a capable antenna that is a little better looking than the 7698P, please let me know.

Thanks!

The Winegard 7698P is very large. It is also very directional which
will likely work against you. I would suggest a high band VHF antenna
from MCM/Newark Electronics for your Cleveland VHF stations and
a 4 Bay Bow Tie Antenna from Channel Master or MCM/Newark. You
can use either a combiner/USVJ or A/B switch with two RG6 cables.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply! I appreciate the advice. Looking at it now I see the size is going to be an issue. But I do like the bowtie idea, just not crazy on the second antenna idea...

I was looking around the net some on my own and found this antenna...

FlatWave Air VHF/UHF Outdoor Amplified Antenna

Do you guys think they will get the required performance out of this unit?

I also saw the EZ HD antenna, wasn't sure what the group thought about that as well.

Thanks again

A smaller antenna like the EZ HD or the RCA751 might work for the Cleveland stations, assuming the TVFool report is accurate (see thread on problems with database) and you mount it high enough to avoid interference from trees. The Winegard 7694P is smaller, less directional, and could be another option for them.

Those compact/plastic coated antennas generally have limited gain
and are not good at VHF. You have VHF signals for Cleveland.
I would also suggest the Channel Master 3016, available via Home
Depot.com for only $51.00, a very good antenna and deal.
Winegard antennas are good but the connector where you attach
the cable, often fail prematurely. They cost about $25.00 to replace.

Hello this may sound a little bit funny but I think you should look at
An Rv tv antenna called King Jack?
