Hi everyone

first off just like to say for some one like me who has had Dish since 1993 I have had enough...lol.... and found this forum and a wealth of info.

Just bought a mobile home in a over 55 community and my brother in law has reintroduced me to ota tv ! I could not believe the clarity of the signal.

He is using a "HD View 360 mini-state antenna" and is getting quite a few channels.

The problem is locally this antenna is over $200... which I am willing to pay "if" it is this the best set up for this area.

I can go as high as 20 feet and the roof is metal... of course I can't have a 13 foot antenna..lol

Here is my tv analysis.... http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...46aefd7609c308

any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Casey

Please check your TV Fool report link. I believe I have corrected some errors that made it fail, but please be sure it is for your location, Thanks.

If the report is correct, I would suggest using an RCA ANT-751 or a premium solution, the Winegard HD7694P. Both are available through many retailers, Amazon is currently asking $48 & $60 for those antennas.

In either case, mount outdoors, clear of obstructions. Point the antenna at about 30° to 35° per a compass.

If you are connecting only one or two TVs, no amplifier should be needed.

I will check out your recommendation on the antennas. Have you heard of the HD view antenna ?

Also I forgot to mention that I am hoping to receive "metv" channel .

thanks so much for the fast reply.

That would be WFLA in Tampa, virtual 8.2, an NBC affiliate. I watch that channel a lot on our local NBC affiliate - much of the old stuff is better than most of the new stuff.

According to rabbitears.info, WESH, real CH-11 carries MeTV network on their second sub-channel. You'll see it show up as virtual channel 2-2. Given that this is a priority, I'd favor the HD7694P for it's added gain. The signal from real Ch-11 is the lowest of the main group coming from the NE. The added gain will offer some insurance against unreliable reception.

The HD View 360 mini-state antenna is an Antennacraft product and would be a good option for an RV'r on the go... It offers less true antenna gain than the two options I've suggested.

Pratical and Useful Information.

Home Depot and Lowes can have ANT751 antenna in stock in the store, no matter what the Home Depot and Lowes web sites say.

Here are other places to buy the ANT751 antenna.

www.solidsignal.com

www.amazon.com

----------

Install the ANT751 antenna above the roof of the mobile home.

The ANT751antenna comes with a , J pole type antenna mount.

Install the ANT751 antenna at a location the has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception , North / North East and West.

Aim the antenna at about 25 degree magnetic compass direction.

Here is how to aim antennas , www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing.html

Use a Real and Actual magnetic compass to aim antenna.

---------

A antenna system amplifier is not required for reception with 1 or 2 Tv's connected.

-----------

The Tv/s Must Channel Scan for the , OTA=Over The Air , Digital Broadcast Tv stations channels , often named the , DTV Channels ~ Air Channels ~ Antenna Channels , in the Tv Setup Menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the Air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

Some digital Tv's will Automatic channel scan for cable Tv channels.

DO NOT channel scan for cable Tv channels.

Go into the Tv Setup Menu and select , DTV Channels ~ Air Channels ~ Antenna Channels.

Scan for channels.

-----------

Digital Tv Tuners can develop -Digital Glitches - that are not cleared out with simple channel scans.

Do Double Rescan , www.wchstv.com/DoubleReScanAlert.pdf

A Winegard , DS3000 , J pole type antenna mount makes a good antenna mount for the Winegard HD7694P antenna.

hey guys,

would just like to report back after your advice. I installed the Winegard HD7694P at 20 feet and 50 foot of coaxial....aimed at about 30 degrees... I get 67 scanned channels ! I'm one happy camper lol...this even with the antenna pointing directly at a large oak tree stand...

would like to thank you guys for the help....

in a few week I'm going to dump dish tv at my main house and will post a mapping for that..

again thanks very much as I would have spent $200 on the small round antenna . lol

ok will try again... lol

so I installed the Winegard HD7694P and 50 ft new coaxial with TII 212 Broadband Cable TV Lightning Surge Protector, at 20 ft, aimed about 30 degrees and right a stand of oak trees. but even with that I'm receiving 67 scanned channels ! and to top it off I'm receiving two METV channels, one from Tampa and one from Orlando... I'm a very happy camper !!

With the advice from you guys I saved over $100 (was going to buy the
HD View 360 mini-state antenna ) at over $200

When I get the time I'm going to dump Dish TV At my main house..will post a mapping later.

Again thanks so much for the great advice.
