Only wanting one channel

Hi guys, I'm ready to get rid of my cable and just run Hulu through my xbox. The only issue is I really would like to keep one "local" channel. That channel is WMCTV channel 5 out of Memphis. Unfortunately it seems to be a VHF-lo channel and I'll have to have a pretty dang big antenna from what I understand. So my question is what is the smallest antenna that would be capable of bringing me in this channel if I were to mount outside on some sort of mast. Also, has anyone tried putting a large outdoor vhf lo antenna in an attic with good space and achieved decent results?
Any help is appreciated, Thanks in advance

To have a Honest shot at Reliable reception of the Very Weak Signal Strength WMC-DT Real Digital channel 5 , virtual number (5.1-2-3) , NBC , This Tv , .

Will require a BIG High Gain antenna.

Install a Winegard HD7084P antenna Above The Roof in such a manner that the Roof and House are Not Blocking reception to north.
___________

The HD7084P antenna has Higher Gain on VHF low band channel 5 then the ,

HD8200U. , HD5030 , HD7082P.

And the HD7084P antenna will also receive the VHF high band channels and UHF channels that have , ABC , CBS , PBS , FOX , CW , ION , Antenna Tv and etc. .

Aim the HD7084P antenna at about 5 degree magnetic compass direction.

Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

_______________

Install a Antennas Direct , CPA-19 preamp.

_______________

For 1 Tv connected use No splitter.

For 2 Tv's connected use a , HFS-2D , 2 way splitter.

For 3 Tv's connected use a , HFS-3D , 3 way splitter.

Buy the HFS splitters at , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.hollandelectronics.com.

___

As always , trees and tree leave , plants and plant leaves , do a good job of , absorbing , multi-path reflecting , blocking , reception , and so do buildings and other obstructions including your own roof and house.

It is best install the HD7084P antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind including your own roof and house.

___

The Tv/s Must Channel Scan for the Digital Broadcast Tv stations/channels , often named the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv Setup Menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the Air from the transmittring antenna to the receiving antenna.

Some Digital Tv's will Automatic channel scan for cable tv channels.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.

Go Into The Tv Setup Menu and select , 'Air Channels' / 'Antenna Channels'.

I would be inclined to avoid an attic install, you would loose precious signal strength while placing the antenna closer to interference generating appliances and electronics in the home. It costs nothing to run another TV Fool report using higher AGL. It would be interesting to see what could be gained by mounting higher.

Ouch, that's one big dude! 9 ft. Well I guess its that or keep paying for channels I don't watch huh? Plus I like those two ronard attachments, I was worried I was going to have to use long conduit and was pretty much ruling it out due to the two powerlines I would have had to completely avoid. The ronards would be perfect for me!

As far as another report, The first one I did not put in a height. Here is another one done at 28ft (that's just a guess since its dark and I'm not real sure the height of the top of the ridge of a 2nd story)

And yeah, I kinda figured the attic install was out of the question for me
