Help with OTA reception

http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...c84f05eadfdc54

I did the TV signal test and the link is posted above. I can be watching TV and all of a sudden the signal is gone sometimes it just goes completely blank and at other times the picture just becomes distorted. This can last for a few minutes or for a second or two. This mostly happens with channel 14 and 11 but has occured on others. I have a rotor and I point my antenna in the direction of the transmitter of the station I am watching. My signal strength is usually in the mid 60's. My antenna is somewhere between 10 and 15 years old and I am using RG6 wire of which about 20ft is new and the other about 20ft is about 10 years old. When I had a new rotor installed the installer said that wire looked ok. I bought and installed a signal amplifier and it does not seem to do anything my wire runs to a spliter then to OTA module on my dish receiver and another spliter which goes to my sound system and to the tv. Any suggestion would be appreciated and I apologize for being long winded and dumb.

Thanks

Are there trees in the path from the antenna to the transmitter?

The information for the amp is as follows:
http://www.kitztech.com/
Kitztech TV Booster
KT-200 Specifications: Bandwidth 54 Mhz - 806MhzNoise Figure: .4 dbGain: 24 db Input/Output Impedance: 75 ohmsDiecast Aluminum CaseCase Size: 3.125" x 2.125" x 1"DC power supply includedAmplifier Power: 7-14 Volts DC @ 70MA Warranty: 1 Year
The antenna from the referenced site you gave looks like an All Ban UHF-VHF-FM antenna. It was purchased from Lowes if that will help. There are no trees closer than about 500 feet to antenna.

Thanks

I say the KT200 is being overloaded by the strong signal strength Tv stations ,

WJHG , WTVY , WMBB , WPXG , WDHN , WECP.

Antenna system #1.

(-->If<-- Notice the word -->If ) it is WABW-DT REAL VHF Low band channel 06 , virtual number (14.1) PBS , that you are after with your All band antenna.

I recommend use the All channel antenna you have as VHF Low Band channels 2 thru 6 antenna with the KitzTech KT 200 amplifier.

Use a HLSJ = High band/Low band Separator/Joiner , as a filter connected between the antenna and the VHF low band input of the HLSJ.

Connect your antenna to the VHF low input and the output of HLSJ to the KT200.

Or can use A Winegard HD7084P antenna in the place of your antenna , with the HLSJ.

The VHF high connection of the HLSJ will have a 75 ohm terminator cap screwed on.

The HLSJ used this way will only pass the VHF low band channels of 2 thru 6.

And act as rejection filter for the other Tv channels , VHF high band 7 thru 13 and UHF channels 14 thru 51.

Type in the letters hlsj in the solidsignal search box , http://www.solidsignal.com.

Aim your all channel antenna at WABW-DT channel 6 at 72 gegree magnetic compass direction.

Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

The antenna will be a Fixed Aim Antenna aimed at about 72 degree magnetic compass direction.

_____________________________________________

Antenna system #2.

To receive the other Tv stations of different directions ,

Use a Winegard HD7698P antenna with a Antennas Direct CPA-19 preamp.

The CPA-19 preamp is resistant to overload.

Here are places to buy antennas and etc. , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.amazon.com , http://www.winegarddirect.com.

______________________________________

The 2 antenna systems are Separate antenna systems and are Not connected on to 1 coax.

The 2 antenna systems are Separate antenna systems All the way to the location/s of the Tv/s.

And are connected to a , http://www.mcmelectronics.com , #32-4425 , remote control A/B antenna switch at each Tv location.

____________________________

For 1 Tv connected use No splitter.

For 2 Tv's connected use a , HFS-2D , 2 way splitter.

For 3 Tv's cannected use a , HFS-3d , 3 way splitter.

Buy the HFS splitters at , http://www.solidsignal.com or http://www.hollandelectronis.com.

A/B antenna switching is Channel Surfing Friendly , press the button on the hand held remote control and keep on channel surfing.

________________________________________________

Using 2 Separate antenna systems means every thing , the Tv antennas the preamps are separate splitters and coaxes. Are Separate all the way to the Tv locations.

As alway , trees and tree leaves do a good job of , reflecting , reducing , blocking Digital Tv reception and so do buildings and other obstructions including your own roof and house.

It is best to locate the antennas at a location that has the least obstructions to no obstructions in the directions of reception including your own roof and house.

The Tv's Must Channel Scan for the Broadcast Tv Channels , often named the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv setup menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

Some Digital Tv's will automatic channel scan for cable Tv channels.

Go into the Tv setup menu and select , 'Air Channels'/'Antenna Channels'.

Do not channel scan for cable tv channels.

____________________________________

Digital Tv tuners can develop - Digital Glitches - that are not cleared out with a simple channel scan.

Do a Double Channel scan.

Here is more information , and , going about reception a different way.
______________________________________________________

WABW will most likely Not be received reliably , Yes you can try.
______________________________________________________

I recommend Aim the HD7698P antenna with the CPA-19 preamp at about 140 degree magnetic compass direction.

Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

For the reception of , with no rotator and without rotating the antenna.

WJHG-TV REAL VHF Digital channel 07 , virtual number (7.1-2) NBC and CW.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WJHG-TV.

WTVY REAL UHF Digital channel 36 , virtual number (4.1-2-3) CBS , MyNetwork , CW.

WMBB-DT REAL VHF Digital channel 13 , virtual number (13.1-2) ABC and This Tv.

WBIF REAL UHF Digital channel 51 , virtual number (x) DayStar.

WPGX REAL VHF Digital channel 09 , virtual number (28.1) FOX.

WDHN-DT REAL UHF Digital channel 21 , virtual number (18.1) ABC.

WECP-LD REAL UHF Digital channel 18 , virtual number (18.1-2-3) CBS and MyNetwork and Weather.

WFSU-DT REAL UHF Digital channel 32 , virtual number (11.1) PBS Florida.

(WFSG REAL UHF Digital channel 38 , virtual number (56.1) PBS is the same Florida PBS as WFSU , so no requirement to receive WFSG.)

__________________________________________________________

For this next suggestion , the HLSJ is not used and the KT200 is not used.

Your (all channel/band antenna??) could be put on the rotator and connected to a CPA-19 preamp , not the KT200 , and rotated to go after the weak signal strength Tv stations such as , WDFX-DT FOX , WJJN-LD IND. , WTLH-DT FOX , WTCW-TV NBC , WTXL-DT ABC.

_______________________________________________________________________

---->Or<---- you could be Ok with the Idea of Receiving what the HD7698P antenna and CPA-19 preamp receives , the list of Tv stations above , and leave it at that.
