Antenna Help Please

This link:

http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...d243afeceaf5a3

is what I receive from "TVFOOL" for an external atenna at 30'.

What atenna setup (type/make/model/style) do you folks recommend for the best reception of the most HD digital TV channels?

Thanks

Dave

Hello Dave,

Rough report I am afraid. The only good signal you have is K25NK-D which reports religious programming. KTTC NBC from Rochester on RF 10 is very weak. WKBT CBS on RF 8 from La Crosse is in the same boat and it gets worse quickly.

Your plot is currently at 30'. I would create new plots based on 50' and 100' elevations. At 30', it is doubtful you would have reception that you'd be happy with.

The goal with the new reports would be to see if the La Crosse/Rochester signals get up in the 10 - 15 (nm)db range. Then we can work with them.

You may find an investment in a tower or tree mount may be called for here.

Cheers.

Thank you Stephanie,

It would appear that your analysis of the analysis is spot on.

Will you please expand on your "tree mount" idea?

The location is built into a hillside and faces (is open to, I believe) the northeast.... and has trees on the hillside behind and well above it.

Thank you

Hi Dave,

Tree mount information can be found here:

http://www.ronard.com/tree.html

Here's an example of someone's set up:

Normally, you'd remove the top 5 or 6' of a tree so you can get a clear mounting situation and ideally a clear unobstructed line of sight in the direction of the transmissions you want.

Before you get to far into entertaining this scenario though, make a TV fool plot based on the projected height of a tree that would be your candidate do this. The goal would be to gain access to enough signal to make the installation worth it

Cheers.
