If it's your tree and you want it down anyway, then go for it.
If the tree is your favorite of all time, then try using a bit larger antenna. The Winegard HD7694P comes to mind.
A premium option would be an Antennas Direct DB8E + EU385CF UHF/VHF Antenna Combiner + Antennacraft Y5713. The two panels of the DB8E can be aimed separately, so one would face about 180° and the other about 220°. The Y5713 would point at about 250°.

If the well is dry and you don't see rain on the horizon, you'll need to dig the hole deeper. (If the antenna can't get the job done, an amp won't fix it.)
