Combatting losses

I haven't done much with the antennas as I am not actually doing things on a scientific plan. So I don't want to start drilling and moving things around till I have a better idea on where things should go in the spacing. So, I decided to work on some other things. Credit to Calaveras on this. I'm designing my own lossless combiner.

I pulled the guts out of this old Color Max splitter:



I stripped back the RG-8 to see what I should do about putting the RG8 through the splitter, I had to drill, it was just too tight:






Next step was to gut an RG-11 connector, I was going to re use the plastic centering piece, I drilled the larger one, it would not push all the way into the connector, I abandoned that idea:





I did strip off the copper shield before putting it in the RG-11 connector.



I also drilled the center of the RG-11 out to give the RG-8 core some room:



Here, the soldering is complete:



I haven't decided what I want to do about filling the void inside the combiner. Epoxy? RTV? Liquid Tape? Not sure at this time.
