Here in Seattle, it's hard to find anyone stocking antenna parts. I would consider trying the RS hardware after putting a few coats of outdoor enamel paint on them.

Connector boots don't seal as well as this: http://www.amazon.com/Scotch-50727-B...h+sealing+tape which I have also purchased at Home Depot. I put a couple wraps of black electrical tape over the 2228 to protect it from UV rays and dust/dirt which sticks to the tacky surface of the 2228. Products such as Coax-Seal are equivalent.

If the well is dry and you don't see rain on the horizon, you'll need to dig the hole deeper. (If the antenna can't get the job done, an amp won't fix it.)
