Antenna siting?

I live on a pretty wooded site near the top of a hill. Here is the tvfool report:

One question I have is will getting a more powerful antenna or amplifier help with getting the signal thru or over the trees? Im interested in getting channels in the 116-117 degree area. I tried an indoor mohu leaf ultimate which picked up several channels nearby, but the most critical ones, ABC CBS NBC did not come in clear. Several channel seemed to be clear but would break up and I'm assuming that is because of the trees.

I'm assuming that an amplifier only will improve or help the signal get from the antenna to the tuner and adding a more powerful one won't help the reception.

Is there anything that will help clear up the signal or is the only option to get higher than the trees... that would be about 40-50 feet...

Thanks
