A roof mounted Winegard HD7694P aimed south should provide the major networks.

If feeding one or two tuners, and the cable runs are not too long (50' or less), an amplifier should not be needed.

If the well is dry and you don't see rain on the horizon, you'll need to dig the hole deeper. (If the antenna can't get the job done, an amp won't fix it.)
