Upgrading an existing antenna

Hello guys: I am a newbee and I live in Miami. Needless to say I feel that I have been blessed with 66 FM stations including including some neighbooring cities as Boca Raton, West Palm Beach, Clewiston etc. The reception of at least 15 to 20 local station is very good. Now, I purchased a Winegard HD6055P wich still needs to be installed, ( me, and it would not be the first ).
This antenna has been rated as "one of the best". Upon unpacking the antenna I was a little disappointed at the quality of the rods. Not like the Terrestrial Digital or the Terks wich both companies use alluminum rods/tubes and look like they will outlive me!! My question is if I try to change the rods ( to alluminum rods ), on the winegard using exactly the original measurements, would I get the same performance as the original Winegard?
I am just curious.
