Tony, you are sure that you are talking about WKNO and not KTEJ? If so, then your results are not surprising at all. Note that the predicted noise margin (NM) is about 9 dB. Let's say the 8-bay has 12 dB gain for the frequencies of RF channel 29 (WKNO's actual broadcast channel). However, you are losing at least 12 dB of signal by being in the attic, so the noise margin is 9 + 12 - 12, or 9 dB, and this is optimistic. Under these reception conditions, you are right on the edge of reliable reception. The couple of dB additional loss between TVs exposes this.

A preamp will do you no good, as the noise it will add will equal the benefit of the cable loss your would eliminate. The best bet is to move the antenna outside if you want better results.
