In an attempt to keep things organized, I've separated your thread.

Re. your questions; Neither antenna is ideal for your application. The signal conditions are such that reliable reception will require an antenna with more gain, mounted outside clear of obstructions.

I would suggest a Winegard HD7698P equipped with an Antennas Direct PA-18 preamplifier. Both are available from the manufactures web sites and online retailers such as Amazon, SolidSignal, 3starinc and others. Those retailers will also offer a variety of mounting hardware and related supplies.

There is one signal on real CH-2 that might be receivable, though with little margin for signal fading. The pending report indicates the possibility of a station to be built on CH-3 but also weak enough to be marginal. If you want to try to receive either of these, you would need to consider using a Winegard HD8200U which is the largest antenna offered by Winegard.

If the well is dry and you don't see rain on the horizon, you'll need to dig the hole deeper. (If the antenna can't get the job done, an amp won't fix it.)
