Apartment antenna question

http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...1ddabd5faaaa5d

I'm mainly going for all the "green" channels. I'll initially set up with an antenna inside my apartment, looking at the Terk HDTVI, and setting it up about 5'-6' above ground level.

If you feel that I won't get adequate reception, I could go for a CM-4220HD METROTENNA mounted to a pole on the patio.

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Indoor Digital Tv reception Is Not a reception friendly environment and Never Will Be reception friendly environment.

The best building construction for indoor Digital Tv reception is wood with wood or vinyl siding.

The following is a - Non complete list - of building construction that will further , multipath/reflect - signals bouncing all around , absorb , block , Digital broadcast Tv reception.

Concrete , concrete blocks , bricks , rocks , metal siding , metal roof , solar panels , metal beams , stucko Wire , and more.

Here are some places to buy antennas and etc. , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.amazon.com.

Instal a TERK HDTVi (not the HDTVa) in a south facing , window , patio window.

Aim the HDTVi at about 180 degree magnetic compass.

Here is how to aim indoor and outdoor antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

If required use a loooong coax to connect the HDTVi antenna to the Tv.

The Tv Must Channel Scan for the OTA=Over The Air , Digital Broadcast Tv stations/channels , often named the 'Air Channels' or Antenna Channels' in the Tv Setup Menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the Air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

Some Digital Tv's will automatic channel scan for cable tv channels.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.

Go into the Tv Setup Menu and select , 'Air Channels' / 'Antenna Channels'.

As always , trees and tree leaves do a good job of , multipath/reflecting , absorbing , blocking , Digital broadcast Tv reception and so do buildings and other obstructions including your own building.

It is best to install a antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception including your own building.

Yes, this is what I was afraid of. The building is wood frame with stucco exterior, so the wire mesh will likely play havoc. I'll just wait a bit longer to get a "proper" exterior setup done. I'll be going Antenna > HD Homerun Dual > Server with Mythbox running.

It only gets more complicated from there. ;)

Many , many , many , many , many , Digital Broadcast Tv stations/channels will be received with a HDTVi antenna in a window.

I actually wound up ordering a Mohu Leaf Ultimate. I'll attach it to a south/eastern faced window and hope for the best.

Just as a quick update, the un-amped version of the Leaf, with me just holding it up in the air provided a decent number of channels.

If the patio is to the 'south type' direction , on the patio install a Antennas Direct , http://www.antennasdirect.com/store/...VHF-Combo.html.
