Looking to ditch satellite and would like some input on antennas. All my major stations are low to high vhf. Size is an important criteria; must be as small as possible. Have trees to the NE. Some that I've been looking at are the Winegard HD7000R, Winegard MS2002, Winegard GS2200 and the RCA ANT751R. Also input on the need for rotors and amplifiers. Thanks

If there's a dilemma, it's that more gain in the CH-2 range would be desirable. But an increase in antenna gain comes at the expense of narrow forward beam width which could make simultaneous reception of the NE & NW signals unreliable.

Of the antennas you've listed, the HD7000R is the best fit for your situation. Also consider the Antennacraft CS600.

If you have several sets to connect, consider using an Antennas Direct CPA-19 preamp or a Channel Master CM-3410 distribution amplifier.

For reception of the VHF low band channels 2 thru 6 and VHF high band channels 7 thru 13.

WMEB-DT REAL VHF channel 09 , virtual number (12.1-2) PBS.

WABI-TV REAL VHF channel 13 , virtual number (5.1-2) CBS and CW.

WLBZ REAL VHF channel 02 , virtual number (2.1-2) NBC and Local Weather.

WVII-DT REAL VHF channel 07 , virtual number (07.1-2/2) ABC and FOX / MyNetwork.

Above the roof install a Antenna Craft CS600 VHF antenna with a Antennas Direct CPA-19 preamp , aimed at about 40 degree magnetic compass direction.

Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

For 1 Tv connected use no splitter.

For 2 Tv's connected use a , HFS-2D , 2 way splitter.

For 3 Tv's connected use a HFS-3D , 3 way splitter.

Buy the HFS splitters at , http://www.hollandelectronics.com or http://www.solidsignal.com.

Here are some but not all above the roof antenna mounts , http://www.ronard.com/909911.html , http://www.ronard.com/34424560.html , http://www.ronard.com/ychim.html , http://www.ronard.com.

Buy the ronard antenna mounts at solidsignal by typing the word ronard in the solidsignal search box.

Here are some places to buy antennas and etc. , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.antennacraft.net , http://www.amazon.com.

As always , trees and tree leaves do a real fine job of reducing or blocking Tv reception and so do buildings and other obstructions.

It is best to install the antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception.

The Tv/s Must Channel Scan for the Broadcast Tv Stations/channels , sometimes named the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv setup menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.

teleview 25-Sep-2012 5:35 PM

For reception of these ANALOG Tv stations/channels ,

WCKD-LP UHF channel 30 , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JCTV.

W31CX UHF channel 31 , EICB-TV , Religion.

WBGR-LP UHF channel 33 , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WBGR-LP.

Install a Antennas Direct DB4e UHF antenna above the roof aimed at about 52 degree magnetic compass direction.

The CS600 VHF antenna and DB4e UHF antenna are connected together with a UVSJ = UHF/VHF Separator/Combiner.

Buy the UVSJ at solidsignal by typing the letters , uvsj , in the solidsignal search box.

The VHF antenna is connected to the VHF connection and the UHF antenna is connected to the UHF connection and the CPA-19 preamp is connected to remaining connection of the UVSJ.

the antennacraft Y10713 is a excellent choice for VHF

teleview 25-Sep-2012 10:54 PM

The Y10-7-13 antenna is a VHF high band antenna for channels 7 thru 13.

ackulik , has receivable Tv stations/channels in both VHF Tv bands of , VHF low band channels 2 thru 6 and VHF high band of 7 thru 13.
The CS600 is designed to receive channels 2 thru 13.

The antennacraft Y10713 seems to be for high vhf. Two of the channels I need are 2 and 5. Thanks though.

Bangor, Maine has the distinction of being the only U.S. DMA where all full-power stations' programming is available on VHF transmissions. A channel 2-13 antenna is appropriate for the current situation unless you want to chase some of the low-power analogs that are still reported to be on the air or to be prepared "just in case".
