San Diego TV reception

Hi folks:

http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...9900e678c307b2

Thanks for the help over the past year. Now getting, most of the time, LA channels 2, 5, 11, 13, 30, 58, and 63. Sometimes 24, 50, and 52. Plus all San Diego and Tijuana/Tecate. While 4 & 7 were coming in several months ago, they've been absent recently. Am using WIN-AP8700 pre-amp and RCA-VH126W rotator (pointing at Mt Wilson) with existing Winegard HD7697 directional antenna. Can't complain, but also can't understand why all LA channels not received given TVFool signal analysis. Pretty clear shot north across Mission Valley (we're about one mile south of ridge).

You're 115 miles from Mt Wilson. Even though TVFool's forecast is not unfavorable, you should be thankful for whatever LA reception you get, especially this time of year. Weather patterns and temperature inversions on the coast make the real results highly variable from the modelling forecasts.

The TV Fool report you've posted does not suggest easy reception of any signals from Mt. Wilson. The HD7697P mounted at 40' is doing quite well.

For example, KNBC is shown as having a noise margin in the air of -8.6 dB. The path profile shows the expected obstructing terrain. Virtually all the LA signals have adjacent and co-channel interference warnings. When I plug the numbers in to the calculator, assuming 100' of coax and no splitter, you theoretically could see KNBC but you have no margin for any interference or fading.

A die hard DX'r would consider stacking two or four long boom Yagis but still expect intermittent reception of most LA signals.

KNBC 36/4 now received

We've had rain in past couple of days...but barometric pressure not much inflated, so I can't explain why, all of a sudden, KNBC (real 36; virtual 4.1 and 4.2) coming in loud and clear. Still no KABC-7 or KCAL-9 probably due to co-channel interference from local Spanish language stations. OTA works in my San Diego neighborhood!
