Look at the antennas in these pictures , which one is the closest to the one you have and in what direction is it pointed?? http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html ,, How many locations do the coax go to and how many Tv's will be connected??

John
It looks like a UHF Yagi style, has one interconnect and serves 1 TV.

If the UHF antenna is pointed at about 342 magnetic compass and is not getting all the stations you will like then I recommend a Winegard HD7694P Tv antenna pointed at about 342 magnetic compass. Connect the HD7694P antenna with No preamp at first. Do not have any splitters connected , splitters reduce the signal each time a split takes place. You will not receive every Tv station out there. Your receivable Tv channels are in the VHF high channels 7 thru 13 and UHF 14 thru 69. You can also try the preamp that you have. If the preamp that you have does not work well enough then I suggest a Winegard HDP269 preamp. . Here are places to buy Tv antennas and etc. http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.3starinc.com , http://www.starkelectronic.com , http://www.amazon.com

Great info John, many thanks for that.

Upon closer inspection I find the coax has been severed, and the antenna design differs substantially to that of the pictures in this post.

Current antenna looks like this.

I'll have to install new coax, question is, will I have to replace the antenna too?

I recommend replacing the coax and doing what I have suggested

Three of the elements are not properly locked in place. You may be able to lock them in place with a long pole. If they don't lock, the plastic mounting brackets may be broken. When you're done it should look similar to this:

http://www.winegard.com/kbase/upload/HD-7015.pdf

The antenna model is not an HD-7015, but it's very close.

The antenna is appropriate for your location. Yet, if you can't fix it, a new HD 7694P would work fine.

Thanks for the advice gentleman.
Much appreciated.

Tv Reception with Tv antennas

For most new digital tv's. In the menu settings , select the scan for Broadcast Digital Tv Channels , sometimes called Air Channels , or other words that have to do with broadcast tv reception. Do Not scan for analog cable channels , Do Not scan for digital cable channels.

You need to do what everyone else does. Do a TV Fool Radar plot with your exact address and the height of your antenna. Specify the number of TV sets that you will have connected to the antenna. Also specify the type of residence--single-family home, garden apartment, trailer, high-rise condominium, etc. It is also helpful to specify the nature of any obstructions around you--trees, high-rise buildings, etc.

bhanik143 19-Dec-2011 1:13 AM

It is not about what you do at home. You came here for help because you don't know what to do. To get help, you need to post a link to your TV Fool Radar plot. A typical TVFR on posted by others in your situation looks like this: http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...4033b3f8d6425b. Include your exact address and the prospective height of your antenna. Go for at least 20 feet. If you can go higher, then do so.

Most HDTV sets are shipped configured for CATV reception. Have you looked for the menu setting to change from CATV to antenna reception?
