Signal glitch every 18ish seconds on one channel.
 
I find it hard to believe that it's a signal problem when like clock work it's 18 seconds. Aiming the antenna doesn't fix it.

Thoughts?

What channel (real)?



Do you live in a rural (or semi-rural) location where you or a neighbor might be using an electric fence for livestock, or other critters? Dog containment "invisible" fence?

Channel 23 (real)

2.7NM(db) I can move the db4e a good 15 degrees and have the same signal. 90% with signal quality in the 60's.

No dog fences or anything right around me.


EDIT: Right now the signal is peaking at 94% and SQ is high 60's to low 70's.

I do have new 600MHZ tmobile towers in the area.

I just installed an FM filter right in front of my Power inserter and either it helped or the sun going down is helping. If it stays improved I'll move the FM filter at the antenna.

It looks like 23 is WPFO Fox, a 2Edge signal with a NM of -0.2 dB.

Try listening for electrical interference noise on a battery operated portable radio on the AM broadcast band (vacant frequency) or on the VHF aircraft band that is also AM.

Your first estimate is more accurate but change the height to 25ft.

I wouldn't expect an FM filter to provide any relief for interference issues up in the UHF band, the math makes that fairly unlikely. Similarly, I also wouldn't expect 600 MHz cellular to cause interference down into channel 23. However, I've been surprised before by things that I hadn't anticipated....

If it returns when the sun comes back up, look for a solar-powered anything. If the interference abates during cloudy weather, that might also suggest a solar powered interference source.



Rabbit73's suggestion regarding the AM radio might help, but if the noise is restricted to only one UHF channel, it may not be sufficiently broadband to register down in the AM band. It is worth a try, though.

Fcc too do a repacking of Fm Radio station way too many of them.

To your antenna it will improve your receive and put it on a
45:DgAGL you will see a big improvement in receiving.
Just try it on your tv Fool report and see for yourself.

You do have two FM transmitters from the ENE only 3.2 miles away, but they don't look like a serious threat because they are not high power.

Yes, worth a try because Fox is much weaker than the rest of your desired channels. Also, if you can borrow a radio that tunes the aircraft band, it is on VHF much closer to TV frequencies.

I don't know. I'm aimed at about 10 degrees and attached are the channels I get. This antenna had a pretty wide pattern. I thought about getting a db8e and offset the panels but, it's a bit large.

26 has been giving me some trouble as well coming from the back side.....

Did you remove the reflector to allow for reception from the back? If not that may help improve rear reception, but may lower front side gain.

With a 60 degree beam width I have my 4bay aimed slightly off from the main tower directions and it helps pick up all those channels from the side. Similar to what you have done. The 8 bay has more gain but a much narrower beam width, so may not be what you want.
