which antenna Finlayson Mn

I'm looking for an antenna to get a couple of channels at my hunting shack. I have tried an antenna like the pic I've included, but would only get a couple channels in the morning and a couple different channels at night. I am just looking to get something to watch not looking for every channel.

Here are my location results. I'm in a lot of trees. Let me know if I need to tell you more about my location. Thanks for any help.

That antenna, and other Chinese antennas like it, have wildly exaggerated claims of reception, and your cabin is at least 55 miles from the network transmitters of Duluth.

My suggestion would be to replace your antenna with a VHF-high-band plus UHF antenna mounted as high on your roof as is practical. A good choice would be the Winegard HD-7698, since you have 2 VHF channels that you will want to receive. You may also want to install a preamplifier like an AntennasDirect PA-18, as a preamplifier seems to make a big subjective improvement in weak signal quality.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have been reading and that antenna has been mentioned often. I realize that I will have to go as high as possible being that I'm in the woods. What does and where does the pre amp go and do?

The preamplifier is a 2 piece device, with the actual preamplifier mounting at the antenna, and the power supply mounting inside the house, connected to an AC outlet.

I just wanted to let you know, I bought both of the things you recommended and they work great. I get 11 channels. Not bad for out in the woods

Glad to hear that it worked for you!
