Sure could use some help
I am such a novice at this so please bear with me.
1. I can put an antenna either in the attic at about 10' or external at about 12'. Is the reception greatly influenced by inside or outside? 2. I cannot put an external antenna above the ridge of the roof (cannot be visable from the street). If I put it on the back of the house and point in the the direction of the towers the ridge is in the path. 3. I have quite a few trees in my neighborhood, but does it help to angle the antenna upwards vs being parallel with the ground? 4. My zip code is 34285, and antenna suggestions? Thank you. John |
Please post your AF radar report. follow the instructions at the top of the Help with reception page.

For a correct recomendation of Tv antenna please post the tvfool radar plot report.
Use the Exact address. Make the antenna height 25 feet. How many Tv's are/will be connected?? DO NOT use antennaweb. Use tvfool. Do Not take a picture of the tvfool radar report. Pictures are dead , can't do any thing with them. Look at the other question askers posts here at tvfool and see that they have posted a live tvfool radar report. |
I am not even close to understanding this or finding the plot report but if you or someone can help me the address is 605 S. Armada Road, Venice, FL 34285. There is no possible way for me to put something 25' feet in the air, maybe, just maybe 15'. I can easily do the install, it is just the technical and logistics that are giving me fits.
Thanks, John |
I recommend you install an Antenna Direct CS2. Aim to 20 degrees magnetic.
There is another group of stations to your Southeast, but the seperation between your 20 degree location and these Southeast channels would require use of a rotor or two antennas to receive both. Be sure to scan for antenna channels, not cable channels. |
Thank you for your help but why do you suggest the 20 degree ones vs the Southeast which appear to be stronger?

TV Fool showed more reception at 20. This could be an error in the report. You can try any known direction.
|
I also found out that in addition to more stations at 20 I will need the CS2-v because some of them are VHF. Thanks again for your help.
|
Tampa requires the UHF/VHF antenna while Ft Myers is all-UHF now (TVFool's database has not been updated to reflect WINK is on UHF 50).
|
Thanks,
I think I will just go with a CS2 UHF unit that I can get on E-bay pretty cheep and see how it goes. |

Here is the Federal Antenna Law that says Yes you can install and use a antenna above the roof. http://www.fcc.gov?guides?over-air-r...n-devices-rule.
Install a Antennas Direct Clear Stream 2 Complete , above the roof and aim the antenna at about 150 degree magnetic compass. http://www.antennasdirect.com/store/...VHF-Combo.html Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html. Remove the reflector screen from the CS2V antenna and the CS2V antenna will receive at the front and back of the antenna so as to receive the groups Tv stations/channels to the , north - north/east and south/east. Here are some roof top antenna mounts , http://www.ronard.com/909911.html , http://www.ronard.com/34424560.html , http://www.ronard.com/ychim.html , http://www.ronard.com. Buy the ronard antenna mounts at solidsignal by typing the word ronard in the solidsignal search box. Here are places to buy antennas and etc. , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.antennasdirect.com , http://www.amazon.com.
