Where's KPIX 29 (v5.1) CBS San Francisco?

I ran the radar plot for my location. "http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=29&q=id%3d67d994af72d627"
Virtual channel 5 KPIX (CBS, San Francisco, Real 29), one of my best channels :), doesn't appear in the data. Is it missing from the data base?

When asking for help, you should create an active link to your TV Fool Radar plot. It normally looks like this: http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...67d994af72d627

The coordinates that you gave places your residence north of Deer Island Reserve in or near Cherry Hill. Based on your description your KPIX reception, I question the accuracy of your coordinates.

Please report database problems in the correct section of the forum.

When stations have construction permits in addition to the main station license, the database tends to default to one of the listings, often one of the supplemental ones. The site admins have to go in and add the additional entries or to correct what's displayed.

It looks like the TV Fool database is using an FCC STA for a maximum ERP of 390 watts and an extremely directional antenna pattern aimed toward 151°.

That would dramatically limit service area compared to the licensed 1000 KW ERP radiated by the wide beam directional array on file.

The Google map location near Deer Island Reserve is spot on. Once I printed out the list associated with the radar plot I found KPIX (real 42) a ways down the list. I was searching the list by virtual channel number 5.1. The virtual channel field on the list was blank. 151° would be directly away from my location and much of the bay area. Interesting. Thanks for the responses.

KPIX has two channel assignments listed in the FCC database. CH-29 is the primary full service assignment, CH-42 is assigned as a translator.

See, http://transition.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/tvq?facid=25452.

The final listing at the bottom of that page includes:
Quote:

Licensee: CBS BROADCASTING INC.
Service Designation: LD Digital Television Translator station

Transmit Channel: 42 638 - 644 MHz Construction Permit
Virtual Channel: 5 (viewer sees this channel number)
File No.: BDRTCDT-20090630ADO Facility ID number: 25452
CDBS Application ID No.: 1319747

This station rebroadcasts KPIX-TV (DT).

38° 23' 54.00" N Latitude
122° 06' 8.00 " W Longitude
(NAD 27)
I expect TV Fool staff will soon edit the TV Fool DB to reflect the licensed facility on CH-29.

GroundUrMast, Thanks for the FCC link. Something else to explore. 151° makes sense for the Napa translator location.
