A while back I requested help re: choice of antenna for my location. I received valuable input and would like to share the results of the professional installation.
The antenna installed is the Antennas Direct DB4e. The installation could not be done on the chimney as requested because of difficulties placing the ladder due to the proximity of the neighbours' house. The antenna was installed on the roof of the second floor, a short distance above the eavestroughs. I receive all the channels I used to receive with the CS2 plus 2-1 NBC (WGRZ); 2-2;11-1 CHCH; 29-1,-2 FOX (WUTD); 49-1 (WNYO). Previously, the reception of 17-1, -2,-3 WNED and 4-1 WIVB used to be spotty. Now, ALL channels, including the new ones are firm, except for 17-1, -2 and -3 that I have lost several times during the week.
I do not know what will happen if there is snow on the roof since the antenna was installed directly on top of the roof with no pole to give it any height. I do not know either what will happen in the Spring since the height is not enough to clear the trees.
The installer did not have a compass to point the antenna the best way possible since he prefers to use a signal strength meter. I wonder though if the antenna should be tweaked a little to firm up the reception of WNED.

A compass at Walmart is very little money.

Yes using a signal strength meter is OK.

Install the DB4e antenna above the high point of the roof (not down low on the roof next to the rain gutter) in such a manner that the roof and house are not blocking reception to the , south west , south , south east.

WNED is a strong signal , should be no reception problem , if the DB4e is installed above the high point of the roof.

If not and you will like to receive it , then install the Winegard YA1713 VHF high band 7 thru 13 channels antenna above the high point of the roof.

Use a --> UVSJ <-- = UHF/VHF Separator/Joiner , to connect the DB4e and YA1713 together.

Type the letters --> uvsj <-- in the , http://www.solidsignal.com , search box.

Do Not use a reversed splitter to connect the DB4e and YA1713 together.

As always , trees and tree leaves do a real fine job of reducing or blocking Digital Tv reception and so do buildings and other obstructions including your own house.

It is best to install the antennas at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception.

Yes tweaking Tv antenna might improve reception of WNED.

Most Digital Tv's have a signal strength meter and some Digital Tv's also have a signal quality meter.

You can try a Channel Master CM3410 distribution amplifier to boost the signal strength.

Try and get the CM3410 closer to the antenna.

The CM3410 is not water proof.

So keep it out of direct weather.

Most attics have electric power to plug the CM3410 into.

Can run the coax from the antenna into the attic to the distribution amplifier in the attic and then back out again from the distribution amplifier.

Or some other way you can do it.

It is best to amplify the signal closer to the antenna then at the furtherest end of coax from the antenna.

Amplifiers Do Not 'Pull' signal through coax. Amplifiers Do Not work like a vacuum cleaner motor.

So it is better to have the CM3410 closer to the antenna were the the signal is stronger and can be made stronger by the CM3410 distribution amplifier.

From a certain point of view one might say that a amplifier pushes a stronger signal through the coax.
