Help with Terk HDTVa pointing/reception
http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...c08df35337165a
Based on map I am pointing the antenna to the southwest but not sure how to use a compass to get it more precise. At this point everything except ch 13 WHAM is coming in. In order to get that channel I have to extend the dipoles fully in a V-shape. If I lower them one segment I lose reception. What is it about that channel that requires them, and for them to be fully extended? I used a height of 12 feet because right now the antenna is sitting on a little end table next to the TV which is on a shelf. The antenna won't fit on the shelf, the poles are too long and hit the ceiling! Thank you! |
Put the indoor Terk HDTVa antenna with the 2 extendable reception rods in a , south west / west , facing window.
The 2 extendable reception rods are for reception of the REAL VHF channels 2 thru 13. Also as always , indoor antennas have -->Limited Reception Capabilities<--. __________________________________________________________________ Have you done any thing or provided any information that - is/was - suggested/recommended - in the original thread?? http://forum.tvfool.com/showthread.php?t=13179. _____________________________________________ Will you install a antenna outside Above the Peak of the Roof in such a manner that the roof and house are not blocking reception the directions of , south west , west , north west?? ______________________________________ Also , As Always , trees and tree leaves , plants and plant leaves , have a negative effect on Broadcast Tv reception with a Tv antenna and so do buildings including your own , roof , attic , house and inside of house and other obstructions. It is Best Practice to install a Broadcast Tv receiving antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception including your own roof and house. ___________________________________________ |
Thank you. What is it about that station that requires the use of the poles? Is it that the "real" channel is in the VHF range? I guess I don't understand real vs. virtual channels.

The Current Broadcast Tv Stations Channels that are transmitted and received.
USA , Canada , Mexico , are. VHF low band channels 2 thru 6. VHF high band channels 7 thru 13. UHF band channels 14 thru 51. The 2 extendable metal reception rods of the Terk HDTVa antenna are for the reception of REAL VHF channels 2 thru 13. The (log periodic) multipul metal reception elements of the UHF antenna are for reception of REAL UHF channels 14 thru 51. http://www.voxxintlcorp.com/docs/com...A/HDTVA_OM.pdf. _____________________________________________________ The Simple way to understand REAL Channels and virtual numbers. The REAL Channels that are transmitted and received are --> The REAL Channels that are transmitted and received. The virtual numbers are not real channels , even if the , real channel and virtual number are the same. Virtual number for the most part , is the Analog channel that a Tv station was transmitting on during the 65 ~ years of Analog Tv transmission and reception. The main part of the Analog to Digital transition happened June of 2009. During that time , Many but not all Tv stations changed the Tv channel that they were transmitting on. Many Tv stations that were transmitting on VHF channels 2 thru 13. Changed to a UHF channel when they converted to Digital. However the Tv station has kept the old analog ('channel 'number') that they were transmitting on. The reason for keeping the old analog 'number' is. As an example. WROC , CBS , was transmitting on VHF high band Analog channel 08. During the transition , the Tv station changed to UHF channel 45 and is now Digital. So you ask. Why has WROC kept the old 8 number to display on the Tv screen?? The reason is -->people. People Expect To See the number 8 in connection with , CBS , WROC , because that is the what they have always known CBS as in the the area they live at/in. As an example , if WROC were to change the number that is displayed on the Tv screen to 45. The Tv station will get phone calls from people that want there Old CBS back. Not the New CBS 45 that took away the Old CBS 8. _________________________ It is still the same CBS!!!! With the same news people and etc.!!!! _________________________ However many people , get hung up on the number. And -->Demand<-- their -->Old CBS. So many Tv stations keep the old number. Even though the Tv station may or may not be transmitting on a different channel. Keeping the old number , Is Known as --> Channel Branding. ___________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________ The internet is loaded with complicated and long winded explainations about how to use a compass. Here is a -->Simple Way<-- to use a compass. The compass needle points north. Line up the - N - in the compass with the top of the length of the needle. ---->Keep the needle lined up with the -N-.<---- Now you can see the directions of , north , south , east , west. ----> Keep the needle lined up with the -N-.<---- There are numbers in the compass. ---->Keep the needle lined up with the -N-.<---- The antenna is aimed at about the direction of the Azimuth number. The tvfool channel list shows what the magnetic azimuth number is. ---->Keep the needle lined up with the -N-.<---- Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/point/pointing.html. __________________________________ |
