antenna selection

I am new to this forum , I am retired and recently fired my satellite provider .
I have two new tv's [sanyo , toshiba] . they are presently hooked up to indoor
antennas [ mohu ] with which I receive between 10 and 20 channels some of them fade in and out . I could use some advice on an outdoor antenna .
I live in a mobile home and the court is concerned with large antennas so smaller is better . any help you could give me would be appreciated .

An RCA ANT-751 is a compact antenna that is worth considering. If mounted high enough to 'see' over the roof, it will do well in the conditions shown in your report. I would try pointing south to begin with, the weaker signals will be more reliable. At the same time, the stronger signals from the NW will still be received. Of course, it pays to experiment with aim, with the signals coming from so many directions you'll be looking for the best compromise rather than focusing on just one signal.

ALL questions and answers about broadcast tv reception and More.

The following is a Teleview recommendation for broadcast Tv reception.

Here is the Federal Antenna Law that says a broadcast Tv antenna of any size , even big ones can be , installed , used , maintained.

http://www.fcc.gov/mb/facts/otard.html.

That said , a Small Antenna will work very well at your location.

Above the roof install a ANT751 antenna with no preamp aimed at about 327 degree magnetic compass direction.

Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

At solidsignal the ANT751 antenna is available with a J type antenna mount for , Low dollars.

Mount/install the ANT751 above the roof in such a manner that antenna clears the roof.

For 1 Tv connected use no splitter , no amplifier.

For 2 Tv's connected use a common simple 2 way splitter , no amplifier.

The Many receivable Digital Tv stations/channels are to the , north west , west , south , south east.

The Digital Broadcast Tv stations/channels in the , Green , Yellow , and into the Red zone will be received.

As always , trees and tree leaves do a real fine job of reducing or blocking Tv reception and so do buildings and other obstructions.

It is a best to mount/install the ANT751 antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions to the , north west , west , south , south east.

The Tv/s Must Channel Scan for the Digital Broadcast Tv Channels , sometimes named the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv setup menu because the the Tv transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.

Here are places to buy antennas and etc. , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.amazon.com.
