Yagi Antenna Design Software

I have built several Yagi Antennas using this software, each antenna has been successful.

I simply used scrap #12 or #10 gauge copper wire, scrap 1X4 or 1X2 lumber and a 300/75Ω matching transformer. A 10 director antenna cut for UHF CH 27 is in service in my attic, providing reliable reception of a weak 1 edge path station.

The software allows for use of insulated and non-insulated boom material, varied diameter of element material and other user input.

Example VHF High Band Yagi

Here is the output for a five director Yagi cut for the center of the H-VHF band. This would be similar to an Antennacraft Y5713 or Y10713.

Construction is assumed to be based on a 1" square metal tube boom and 3/8" round tubing for the elements. The directors and driven element are not insulated from the boom. (The driven element is a folded dipole. Its' center point opposite the feed point contacts the boom.)

Example 12 Element UHF (CH 14 - 51)

Here is a design for a 10 director Yagi cut for the UHF band (CH 14 - 51).

Build this using a 1X2 or 1X4 wood boom and elements cut from scrap 12, 10 or 8 gauge copper wire.

I've got a functional version of this in my attic, reliably receiving KBTC (PBS) over a one-edge path.

Rather than the 1/2 wave coax balun, I just soldered a store bought balun on and ran RG-6 from there.

1" square metal boom w-3/8" rnd elements

UHF (CH 14-51) Yagi -- Predicted Gain: 12.8 dBd

Build with 1" square metal boom and 3/8" round rod or tube. Elements are not insulated from boom.

This will just squeeze onto a 5' boom.

CH-33 10 Director Metal Boom Non-Insulated

Here's yet another design. This is specifically designed to use 1" square metal tube as the main boom, #8 AWG solid wire as the element material. The reflector, directors and center point opposite the feed point gap in the folded dipole all are in direct contact with the boom (no insulators are used in the design except possibly at the feed point if the foleded dipole needs to be supported at the gap/terminals).
