Antenna Choice for the GTA

Hi folks,
I live in the greater toronto area and am looking for some input as far as Hardware goes.

This is my Signal Analysis :
http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...de65a673b6a31b

There are many transmitters in my area.
Although I think I am in a bit of a small valley.

In Canada, I've found places that sell Clearstream and DB8 Antenna.
Mind you, these forum don't necessarily recommend them.

Any ideas on best approach ?

Also, I read some interesting links on Grounding Approaches.
My House Ground is connected inside to the City water supply.
This means that there is no external ground to connect to.
Any recommendations around that ?

Thanks
Derek

Tv Antennas and Tv Reception

A simple reception situation. Many , many , many , Canada and American Tv stations/channels will be received.

No amplifier is required for 1 Tv connection. ( How many Tv's are/will be connected??) .

Install a Winegard Hd7698P antenna above the roof aimed at about 195 degree magnetic compass. Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.
Here are some roof top antenna mounts. http://www.ronard.com/909911.html , http://www.ronard.com/34424560.html , http://www.ronard.com/ychim.html , http://www.ronard.com.
Buy the ronard antenna mounts at solidsignal by typing the word ronard in the solidsignal search box or buy from ronard.

Here are places to buy antennas and etc. in Canada and the USA. http://www.saveandreplay.com , http://www.trentondistributors.com , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.amazon.com , http://www.amazon.ca , http://www.canadapost.ca/shopper. http://www.winegarddirect.com

An honest technical suggestion: I think the HD7698 will be too much. I would recommend either the Winegard HD7694P or the AntennaCraft HBU-33.

As to the grounding situation , it is best that you contact and electrican for grounding methods in Canada. . The Tv/s Must scan for the Digital Broadcast Tv Channels sometimes called to 'Antenna Channels' or 'Air Channels' in the Tv setup menu because the transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna. DO Not scan for cable Tv channels.

The HD7698P antenna will get you the Current Plus Pending Applications Included Digital Canada and USA Tv stations/channels in the , Green , Yellow , Red , reception zones of the tvfool radar map.

The HD7696P and HBU33 will not be enough.

For reception of WBBZ-TV channel 7 http://metvnetwork.com and http://www.thistv.com with a signal strength of plus +4.1 NM(dB) and WPJX-DT channel 23 http://www.iontelevision.com with a signal strength of minus -7.8 NM(dB) then install a HD7698P antenna.

How many Tv's are/will be connected??

GTA Antenna Questions

Hey there Electron,

thank you sir !
Appreciate the great data.

I have 3 RG 60 Drops to 3 TVs through an existing Cable TV service.
( I'll be selling / giving back my cable boxes )

I'm cool with the scanning piece for each TV.

I'll validate with my local Electrical Code as far as Grounding principles.
I can certainly see the benefit of keeping the current sink out of the house.

I'll start searching for the hardware.
Given 3 TVs would you recommend an AMP ?

Regards,
Derek

Not knowing how long the coax runs are , this preamp will provide a little extra push. Install a Winegard AP8275 preamp.

I can't get an 8275 here.

The 8780 only has a gain of about 17db on the VHF band while the 8275 has a gain of 29db. (Both have 28db gains on UHF)

The CM 7777 gives you about a 30db gain on both VHF/UHF so it's also a good option.

No water what any one else says . If you will like to receive the Ameroican and Candaa Tv stations .
Install the HD 7698P antenna and A Winegard AP8275 preamp for 3 or for Tv's connected.
