Newbie needs Reception help
 

OK I live in a tiny little town almost smack dab between Seattle WA and Portland OR.

I purchased a Lava HD8008 omni-directional outdoor antenna. It is mounted on the roof approx 70 feet up.

I don't get many channels. I do get Fox, which was important for Hawks Football, but I don't get any other of the major networks (abc, cbs, nbc) I do get some Japanese channel. AntennaTV and a couple others.

What do I do?

Based on the erroneous and often incomplete information on TV Fool,
you are receiving translators, about 7 miles from your location.
Most all of the other signals are far too weak for your antenna. You
would need to upgrade to something like a Winegard 7698p, a much
larger and capable antenna. Even then, you would not likely receive
all your major networks on a consistent basis. You would also probably
need a rotor to move the antenna between Portland and Seattle.

Yeah, your in for some extreme measures to even come close to getting the majors.

But that doesn't mean you should give up, if you're handy and don't mind trying to make your own you can experiment with some good designs and at least find out what the possible is without spending a ton of money. Several sites on the ole interweb with plans to make really good antennas. (But you do have to be very exact on all the measurements.)

Or if you do buy a giant high gain setup, make sure wherever you get from it has a generous return policy. ;)

Not exactly the news you wanted to hear..... You might well be better
off streaming television, especially if you already have high speed internet.
I have more than enough to watch via OTA and Roku. You may or may
not feel the same way and I don't pay a dime for television.
