Tulsa signal boost help
 

Hi all, I need some help with pixelation issues with KOTV. It gets pretty bad some times and would like some advice on what may help.

I have a Winegard HD7694P about 30 ft high pointing at 81 degrees on compass. We have 4 TVs off this antenna and the only problem is with KOTV.

Here's my map in which KOTV does not show up(I think it is also listed near KJRH at 81 degrees).

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to the pixelation and wasn't sure if you all thought a preamp would help.

Any suggestions on next steps?

Is system grounded??? How long are your cable runs?
Where is the splitter in relation to your antenna and the
four tv's????

Do NOT use an amp, your local signals are far too strong.

Most likely, you simply need to move the antenna. For UHF issues, it might take as little as 6 inches. Or, it might take 6 feet or 6 yards.

Trees, buildings nearby??? No but we are in a valley
Is system grounded??? Yes it is grounded.
How long are your cable runs? Cable runs range from 50 - 70 ft. Furthest away is rarely watched. Right now we only have three tvs hooked up.
Where is the splitter in relation to your antenna and the
four tv's???? Splitter is closer to antenna than tvs. I'd say 15 feet. Once cable drops into attic the splitter is seen.

And the only channel we have issues with is KOTV(6).

That is good to know. I wondered if that would be the case.

Being in a valley, would a higher mast be beneficial? I have made antenna movements between 75 to 95 degrees to capture a better signal with no luck.

That would have been good to know sooner. Because of the current issues with the station database, KOTV doesn't appear on your plot so your terrain issue wasn't apparent.

If you have the space on your mast, I'd run the antenna DOWN the mast in 6" decrements to see if you can find a hot layer in KOTV's signal (without breaking something else) before either going to a taller mast or moving it completely and starting over.

Because you are in a valley, most of the signals go right over
your home and antenna. You likely have a two edge signal
on most of your major Tulsa stations. At 70 feet AGL, those
two edge signals turn into Line of Sight and grow much stronger.
You can try going lower and move the antenna around on your
roof but if that doesn't work, you'll need to go higher. Not
necessarily 70 feet above ground level but higher than what you
currently have.

I'll definitely try moving the antenna down in increments prior to looking into a taller mast.

Unfortunately because of a long list of honey do's, I won't get to this for a week or so.
