Parents need help

This is the report for my parents house. They are looking to get an antenna and I am new to this and can't really give any educated advice. One specific channel that they would like to get is PBS. It doesn't look too promising but I know you guys know your stuff. Any input is greatly appreciated. They do not have a preference as far as where to mount it. I was thinking maybe a two panel antenna to grab the eastern and western signals.

Not so sure WCNY PBS is going to be doable OTA. The signal is weak and you are in a hole. If you click the network name on your tvfool report you can see you are behind a mountain that is blocking your signal even with your antenna at 20ft height.

All I can offer is hope. My report shows WGRZ (real 33, down in the red) with a NM of 0.5, and 2-edge condition at 65 miles out. Similar to your WPBS (real 41) with NM of -2.2, and 2-edge at 55 miles. Even the terrain looks rather similar.

It's way out of my market, and I shouldn't be able to get it at all, but I get it just fine with a DB4e in my attic (even with 2 ft of snow on the roof right now), which is a terrible place for an antenna. I also get a few other Buffalo stations, though not as reliably. I would think just moving mine out of the attic would help a lot.

So all I'm saying is that there probably is at least some chance of reliable reception, with the right antenna, in a location that has a clear shot at the horizon (not through trees), and away from objects that may interfere, like the building itself.

You may get lucky.

The translator W22DO-D carries the WCNY signal and should not be real difficult to receive.

In my first post I offered nothing in the way of antenna advice. While I do not want to suggest a specific brand of antenna. Any good 4 bay UHF antenna correctly aimed, and installed should do the job if there are not nearby trees, or buildings directly in the signal path.

I will pass this information along. Thank you everyone who chimed in, it's much appreciated.
