Thanks for the tip. You would think there would be a way to do it but I guess I will just have to stick with it as is.

Thanks for the help!

TV Antennas and Reception

I went to a house to check out a cable Tv problem some years ago , the guy had connected the cable wire to the alarm system wiring. . He said the same thing you said , you would think there would be a way to do it. .. You can look up the technical reasons why the cable Tv/cable internet can not be directly connected to the antenna system with the simple setup at your house. . Is there a way to do it?? Yes there is . And that is your research project. However DO NOT directly connect the systems together in/on the same coax , not with splitters , not distribution amplifiers , No.

It appears to me that the easiest solution would be to just hook up the Xbox with a wireless adapter so I no longer need the modem at the same point as the TV. I could then use a different wall plate somewhere else in the house for cable internet.

FWIW, my old Linksys WAP54g handles streaming video at 20 Mb/s just fine.

I was looking at a Netgear universal WiFi adapter. The box just sends/receives your WiFi signal and then connects to anything via ethernet. Should get the job done and then I will free up the coax behind my TV for OTA signal.
