Need an digital / hd antenna
 

I have posted in another forum and received one antenna recommendation... from what I am understanding, the antennas I am looking at below will NOT pick up ALL Los Angeles channels. So can someone on this forum recommend a couple of good choices?

I live in the SoCal area. have cut the cable and want to buy an outdoor HD antenna... but have a few questions.

Many of the antenna's I'm looking at state they are UHF antennas... am I to understand that ALL the HD channels are now on the UHF band and not VHF??? OR, do I need an antenna that pulls in both, UHF and VHF?? My goal is to pull in the major networks: CBS 2; NBC 4; KTLA 5; ABC 7; KCAL 9; KTTV 11; KCOP 13... and any of their sub stations like Cozy TV and KTLA's Antenna TV stations

I am located about 30 miles from Mt Wilson (in a direct line), and the antenna will be install on a mast on my roof.

The units I'm looking at are.

1) Wineguard - Flatwave Air, HL6550A
2) Antenna's Direct - DB8e
3) Channel Master - 4228HD

Any help or suggestions appreciated.

The LA market is served by a mix of UHF and VHF signals. Most real channels carry multiple data streams, each identified by virtual channel ID's that usually do not match the real channel number used to broadcast them. This is common in most markets.

You could look at the real channel for the stations you want, and see if they are broadcasting on VHF low, VHF high or UHF. This makes a big difference in which antenna(s) you choose.

To assist the best reception , most Digital Tv's have a Signal Strength Meter and some Digital Tv's also have a Signal Quality Meter.

As always , the antenna aim direction and antenna location can be adjusted to for the best reception.

The cable delivered service must be on a Separate coax from the antenna system coaxes.
