In an attempt to keep things organized, I've separated your thread.

Re. your questions; Neither antenna is ideal for your application. The signal conditions are such that reliable reception will require an antenna with more gain, mounted outside clear of obstructions.

I would suggest a Winegard HD7698P equipped with an Antennas Direct PA-18 preamplifier. Both are available from the manufactures web sites and online retailers such as Amazon, SolidSignal, 3starinc and others. Those retailers will also offer a variety of mounting hardware and related supplies.

There is one signal on real CH-2 that might be receivable, though with little margin for signal fading. The pending report indicates the possibility of a station to be built on CH-3 but also weak enough to be marginal. If you want to try to receive either of these, you would need to consider using a Winegard HD8200U which is the largest antenna offered by Winegard.

I live in apt complex and Winegard HD7698P is huge...would you recommend anything smaller?

If you have no options for outside mounting, you can still hope to see some channels. Your success depends on whether you have a clear view toward Mt. Wilson. If you can aim the HDTVi or HDTVa through a window, you can hope for some reception.

You can also consider using an outdoor antenna such as one of the Clear Stream series from Antennas Direct. The larger CS-4 would have more gain than the smaller versions. The CS-1, CS-2 and CS-4 are all UHF only designs but a VHF add on kit is also available.

The RCA ANT-751 also comes to mind when thinking of people trapped in an apartment or condo.

I have a small porch...I can point west any indoor/outdoor antenna that is vertically flat...

Can you fit a Winegard HD7694P in that space?

If the Winegard HD7694P antenna will fit on the porch , then aim the antenna at about 330 degree magnetic compass.

As always the starting antenna aim direction is the --> starting antenna aim direction. The antenna can then be turned to get the best reception.

The best way to get the coax from the antenna to the Tv is with hole through the wall.

If you can aim the antenna more Northwestish outdoor use the Antennas Direct DB2 complete and a Winegard AP 8700 amplifier.

This antenna has a flat profile, and in combination with the amplifier should receive the channels to your Northwest.
