What is the best antenna for my location? Will an indoor antenna suffice? What is the best outdoor antenna and indoor antenna suited for my location? What does DB refer to? Thankyou!

A Simple reception situation.

Above the Peak of the Roof so that reception is not , obstructed , impeded , blocked , buy the , attic , roof , building , in the direction of , North West.

Install a , www.antennacraft.net , HBU11K , antenna aimed at about 343 degree magnetic compass direction.

The reception signal strengths are strong.

A antenna system amplifier Is Not required.

For 1 Tv connected use No splitter.

For 2 Tv's connected use a simple common 2 way splitter.

For 3 Tv's connected use a simple common 3 way splitter.

For 4 Tv's connected use a simple common 4 way splitter.

As always , trees and tree leaves , plants and plant leaves , have a Negative Effect on Broadcast Tv Reception and so do buildings and other obstructions including your own roof and building.

Some and not all Negative Effects are.

Absorbing and Blocking Reception.

Multi-Path Reflecting Tv Signals Bouncing Around.

The Best Pratice is to install the HBU11K antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception including your own roof and building.

The Tv's Must Channel Scan for the , OTA=Over The Air , ATSC-Digital Broadcast Tv Reception , often named the ~ Antenna Channels ~ DTV Channels ~ ATSC Channels ~ Air Channels ~ in the Tv Setup Menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the Air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

Some digital Tv's will Automatic channel scan for cable Tv channels.

DO NOT channel scan for cable Tv channels.

Go into the Tv Setup Menu and select ~ Antenna Channels ~ DTV Channels , ATSC Channels ~ Air Channels ~.

Channel Scan for the , ATSC-Digital Broadcast Tv Stations Channels.

Anybody??? I would like to get NBC, ABC, PBS, & CBS. I would need a UHF & VHF antenna to receive all those channels, correct?

An indoor antenna may give satisfactory reception, depending on the construction of your house. The best indoor antenna would be a set of VHF rabbit ears and a UHF loop WITHOUT an amplifier. The indoor antenna should go on a wall that faces NW, ideally in front of a window. The rabbit ears should be parallel to the wall. Then use as long of a cable needed to reach your TV.

Or even better get an RCA ANT751 and mount it as high as possible on your roof avoiding obstructions, point it NW (332 degrees magnetic). You should not need a preamp even driving 100’ of cable and a 4 way splitter. If you really want to get a preamp, don’t; buy a bigger antenna instead (Winegard HD7697P or Antenna Craft HBU44), the extra gain will be more valuable than a preamp would with your strong signal situation.

How about something like the Antennas Direct C2V, where the VHF dipole has pretty much the same gain from the back as the front, allowing real 8 (ION) from the back without loss due to directionality?

The translator W50CI-D carries Ion from WBNA, so RF8 from the south may not be needed.

In my experience, close VHF stations want to be received even with less than optimal antenna placement, so a directional antenna pointed NW may still receive RF8 from the south. (I receive RF8 from 350 degrees with an Y5-7-13 pointed at 217 degrees, the signal is not the highest strength, but the quality is 75 to 80%).

A great low coast antenna for your needs would be a Antennacraft HBU11k. It comes with a J-pole mount and is half the price of the ANT751 with the same peformance.

Mount outdoors with a clear line of sight to magnetic 335. Depending on how many TVs you want to supply signal to there might be additional needs. However, for 25 bucks, you are in there door with an antenna that'll meet your needs.
