Compression fittings
The more I look into this the more foolish I feel!
Is there really a universal fitting and tool? I've been looking at a couple of tools: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=ATVPDKIKX0DER http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=ATVPDKIKX0DER And have been looking at this fitting http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...A1X89DUOXIWEFB Would either of these tools work for this fitting? If not do you folks have some suggestions foe some one who is feeling a bit overwhelmed? |
I got that Klein tool from HD, and the Klein stripper (they didn't stock the whole kit), and have been wondering why I messed about with the crappy crimp types for all these years. Cheap and effective. I'm also using the Ideal connectors that HD stocked that are all metal, but I'm not using them outdoors. If I was, I'd wrap them with Coax-Seal then good quality electrical tape.
I'm quite pleased with how the stuff I have works, but I'm not a pro and don't need top dollar tools for this. Just a single data point. |

A guy that I bought 5 rolls of 3G coax from, tossed in a bag of 50, of which I've probably used 25 w/ no problem. I cut the jacket, braid and foam, w/ a drywall knife and saturate the fitting w/ CA. The plastic tool has held up quite well. I have never used Coax Seal, but I believe my use of Scotch Super 33+ has been holding up OK. |
Thanks for the replies.
I would still like for some pros to answer my questions please. Bear |
I just bought the same fittings. They seem to work good. (Just installed them today)
They don't seem to be of the quality the guy from Direct TV used a few years ago when I had satellite. This looks like the ones he used. http://www.amazon.com/Thomas-Betts-B.../dp/B002OFA8AG They seem to have a bteer build quality. Wish I would have thought to get the same ones. This is the tool I bought. I like the way it works too. I like how easy it is to adjust. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0042PNZM4/...332200_TE_item Finally the stripper which worked perfectly. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000HRWOTQ/...332200_TE_item |
