Hello,

My wife and I recently decided to cut the cord from cable and are now experimenting with OTA signals. Here is our TV Fool analysis -

http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=29&q=id%3d1349afc9bab8c9

We have tried two indoor antennas, Phillips MANT410, and the RCA700r. The 700r was stronger, and able to pick up WTHR, WRTV, WXIN, WTTK, WFYI all without fail sitting behind our tv. The MANT410 was not as successful.

However, we are in need of picking up WTHR (our NBC affiliate) for the olympics coverage, any tips or suggestions on Antenna purchase, setup or configuration would be very helpful.

Please consider a rooftop antenna.

@ADTech is quite right. Your report clearly indicates signal conditions that call for an outdoor antenna such as a Winegard HD7698P. If connecting more than one set or driving more than 25' of cable, a preamp such as the Antennas Direct PA-18 should also be considered.

A simple reception situation.

Install a Winegard HD7696P antenna above the roof.

Aim the HD7696P antenna at about 125 degree magnetic compass.

Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

Here are some antenna mounts , http://www.ronard.com/909911.html , http://www.ronard.com/34424560.html , http://www.ronard.com/ychim.html , http://www.ronard.com.

Buy the ronard antenna mounts at solidsignal by typing the word ronard in the solidsignal search box.

Here are places to buy antennas and etc. , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.winegarddirect.com , http://www.amazon.com.

For 1 Tv connected , no amplifier required.

For 2 or more tv's connected install a Winegard AP8275 preamp.

For 1 tv connected , no splitter is used.

If connecting more then one Tv.

Do you have , 2 , 3 and 4 way splitters to connect , 2 , 3 or 4 Tv's??

If not then I recommend. http://www.hollandelectronics.com , and can also buy at http://www.solidsignal.com or http://www.amazon.com.

HFS-2D , 2 way splitter for 2 Tv's connected.

HFS-3D , 3 way splitter for 3 Tv's connected.

HFS-4D , 4 way splitter for 4 Tv,s connected.

The Tv/s Must scan for the Broadcast Tv Channels sometimes named the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv setup menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

Do Not scan for cable tv channels.
