Hi,
Here is my location:

I have an indoor Mohu Leaf. I can easly pick up all the stations in the 'green' section of the chart except NBC and CBS. It appears these two stations share locations with channels that come in fine. Aside from moving the antenna location, would I be better off with an amplified model? As you can see by my post count, I am just getting my feet wet.
thanks,
elbo

An amplifier should not be required...
The Mohu Leaf is not known for it's ability to receive VHF (Real channels 2 through 13).
If you can not or will not mount an antenna outdoors (where there's higher quality signal to be had), then consider the Terk HDTVi (not the HDTVa). The HDTVi is a modestly directional indoor antenna which has both UHF and VHF capability.

A roof mounted Winegard HD7000R would be my choice. Aimed north as a starting point to see if I could get the Sutro Tower signals while also getting the San Jose stations.

Install a Winegard HD7000R antenna above the roof aimed at about 350 degree magnetic compass . Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html. Here are some roof top antenna mounts , http://www.ronard.com/909911.html , http://www.ronard.com/34424560.html , http://www.ronard.com/ychim.html , http://www.ronard.com. The Tv/s Must scan for the broadcast tv channels sometimes named the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv setup menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.
DO NOT scan for cable tv channels.
