These are the stations available to me in the Des Moines TV market:

WOI real channel 5 virtual channel 5.1 ABC network
KCCI real channel 8 virtual channel 8.1 CBS network
KDIN real channel 11 virtual channel 11.1 IPTV network
WHO real channel 13 virtual channel 13.1 NBC network
KDSM real channel 16 virtual channel 17.1 Fox network
KDMI real channel 23 virtual channel 19.1 This TV network
KCWI real channel 23 virtual channel 23.1 CW network

KCCI real channel 31 and WOI real channel 50 were moved in the DTV conversion on June 12, 2009, so they no longer exist.

There are other channels in this market, most notably KFPX real channel 39, but I use an antenna and my location is too low and too far away to receive them. I have received KFPX in certain weather conditions.

My three Sony TVs and my Home Theater PC display both virtual channels and real channels, so I am very confident in this information.

I never really paid any attention to the call sign suffix until I read another post on this forum. I didn't think the call sign suffix had any important meaning. What does call sign suffix mean?

Okay, I read the FCC attachment to the post on call sign suffix. Essentially, before the conversion to DTV on July 12, 2009, suffix -TV indicated an analog station and -DT indicated a digital station. After the conversion stations could choose to keep the suffix they preferred, with a specifc default if they made no choice. I am obsessive-compulsive, but not enough that I am impressed by the call sign suffix correctness. I am more impressed with the correctness of the virtual and real channel data.

I should have mentioned:

WOI real channel 5 is ABC network on virtual channel 5.1 and RTV on 5.2.
KDIN has alternate programs on virtual channels 11.2 and 11.3.
KCCI has weather on 8.2, WHO has weather on 13.2.
