To AMP or Not to AMP

Hello,

I'm looking at either getting the Monoprice HDA-5700 or the Mohu Leaf.

Based on my signal strength, do you recommend either one of these or should i try to get one that isn't amplified? I'm sure I can get way more channels and better signal if I spent a couple hundred and mounted one outside, but I'm in a rental house and need it to be clean and simple. A simple indoor one that I can mount to a wall or just sit on my TV stand would be best for us right now.

I don't think an indoor antenna will work well for you. Amplifiers really won't help, either, as all they do is keep the signal captured by the antenna from getting lost in the cable to the TV. Since cables from an indoor antenna are pretty short, there's really no loss to worry about.

I'd recommend putting an antenna like the AntennaCraft HBU-33 or Winegard 7694 in the attic or an RCA ANT-751 outside.

I would opt for a roof mounted antenna, there are plenty of signals available but an indoor antenna won't be up to the task.

As usual , Electron provides way more practical and useful information. For reliable and dependable digital tv channel reception. As usual , Electron provides even more practical and useful information. The digital tv stations/channels that are at about 200 degree magnetic compass , in the red/pink zone are very weak. For one tv connection , a single coax to the tv , no splitters. For 2 tv connection use a simple common 2 way splitter. For 3 or 4 tv connections use a http://www.channelmasterstore.com , distribution amplifier CM3414.
