HI,

based ob my report (http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=29&q=id%3d9fbe3bc3c75de9) it looks like I would only need an indoor antenna to get most channels. Now on antenna web i have found that fox is on VHF for me. I was looking at the monoprice antenna (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=109&cp_id=10901&cs_id=1090102&p_id=4730&seq=1&format=3#specification)

I am planning to install the antenna outside at about 1.5 stories high to improve receiption regardless of just needing a indoor antenna.

Any suggestions for a decently priced, not super huge (a little is fine :-), but good antenna?

I recommend either this (http://www.bing.com/shopping/search?q=RCA%20ant751&qpvt=RCA+ant751&FORM=HBRE&p1=%5bCommerceService+scenario%3d%22o%22+docid%3d%225B32A73EF1747D883627%22%5d&wf=Commerce)or this (http://www.solidsignal.com/pview.asp?mc=03&p=HD7694P&d=Winegard-HD-7694P-High-Definition-VHFUHF-HDHD769-Series-TV-Antenna-(HD7694P)&c=TV%20Antennas&sku=) as the smallest antenna for reliable reception of FOX.

To be fair, your TVFool report showed that your Detroit Fox affiliate is on VHF, too. That's what the real channel column is for. :)

Stay away from amplified antennas like the monoprice model. The HBU-22 would be an excellent choice for your situation. The RCA ANT-751 is also a model you can consider.

Good luck.

Thanks guys I appreciate your quick responses. It really helped make my decision and I am glad that I didn't just jump on the monoprice antenna (I had it in my shopping cart for my next order for 2 weeks now - sometimes I am glad to be a procrestinator!)

And regarding the TVfool report. I didn't realize that the lower "real" numbers also indidcate that it is on VHF. Thanks for the pointer.

That's what i thought...

I didn't really pay attention that the HBU-22 is almost 6ft long!! Even thought it sounds like the ideal solution I think I'll go with the RCA from Amazon for $45 and free shipping.

Basically, it's either a knock-off of the ANT-751 or it comes from the same factory and is re-branded...

Sure wish someone would actually publish specs on it.

Sigh. For a real antenna, that's not very big. You can't fight physics.
