We currently clearly get CBC-4, CTV-13, CTV2 (A Channel)-43, CHCH (Ind)-11, SRC-9, TVO-24, and a couple of other channels that we don't care about. We also get analogue CBC on channel 36 from a town about 200km away. We get these channels with a set up of a TV top antenna about 15 ft above ground surface on the south side of the house connected to a home made hanger/wood antenna in a second story window facing north. We loose CTV and CTV2 if we disconnect the second antenna.

Would love to get CBS and PBS.

We are looking for a recommendation on a rooftop antenna. If it makes a difference, we live in Kanata, ON (Ottawa suburbs).

Help would be appreciated!

To see WWNY-CBS, real; channel 7, will require at least a Winegard YA-1713 or Antennacraft Y-10713. In fact you may need a matched pair, stacked for additional gain. http://forum.tvfool.com/showthread.php?t=1024

WNPI-PBS, real channel 23, will require a big antenna such as the Antennas Direct XG-91.

Most amplifiers will be overloaded if you aim either of those antennas at the local stations but I think you'll need a preamp such as the Antennas Direct CPA-19 for the weak signals from the south.

This means you may want to install a smaller antenna for the local signals and then use an A/B switch to select the US antenna system.
