I live in Edmonton and would like to install a UHF/VHF roof antenna.

Here is my signal analysis link:

If the house is wood frame with wood or vinyl siding then reception in the house with a indoor antenna will be very good. If the house has metal siding , metal roof , concrete , brick from ground to roof , solar panels , then reception will be reduced or blocked. The digital tv transmissions at your location are strong and can be received with a simple Non amplified indoor antenna. http://forum.tvfool.com/showthread.php?t=233. Aim the antenna at about 84 degree magnetic compass. Here is how to aim indoor antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

If you will like to use a roof top antenna then I recommend a Winegard HD1080 antenna. http://www.canadapost.ca/shopper/search?keywords=hd1080

Thanks for the quick reply. I went out tonight and found an antenna at Princess Auto:

http://www.princessauto.com/surplus/electrical/consumer-electronics/8378275-hdtv-antenna

It works very well and I am now receiving the following channels:

3-1 CFRN
5-1 CBX-DT
11-1 CBXFT-D
13-1 CITV-HD
17-1 CKEM-DT
30-1 CTS-DT
56-1 CJEO-DT

Signal strength is great and the picture is outstanding. The only problem I have is when I do a scan of channels in Windows Media it misses 2 of the 7 channels, CFRN is one of them.

I get the channels when I do a scan in wintv. i do not get them when I scan using windows media centre. So i know this is a issue with windows.
