I need help guys, NFL kicks off in a few hours and my only way to watch the game is by antenna. I have a Samsung Series 7 tv that is hooked to a rooftop antenna, Ive adjusted the the antenna to the direction recommended by this sigh, no luck. Adjusted it a full 100% numerous times trying to catch the 2 nearest stations that should be easily caught, still nothing. Ive even taken a small tv into the attic and connected it directly to the wire frome the antenna and I still no luck. What am I missing? Im connected to the antenna and no matter what position I spin it I never anything. The antenna option is set to air. Someone told me to be sure the tv is set to analog but I dont see that I have that option.

Any help will be apprecitated

You are correct, the set must be configured to 'air' or 'antenna' mode, not 'cable'. It may be that you are not seeing anything because the set has not scanned for channels. Many televisions with ATSC capable tuners (ATSC is the signal format used for digital over the air broadcasting) require that you scan for channels. It may be that you are not seeing anything because the set has not scanned for channels and the set design does not provide for manual direct tuning.

The manual for your set would be the best reference at this point. An online search using the model number will often find a down-loadable copy of the manual.

In the US, there are still low powered analog translator stations around but all full service stations are broadcasting digital signals at this point. In the 'air' or 'antenna' mode, newer sets will receive both formats. (ATSC, digital and NTSC, analog)

If you're still having trouble, please post a link to your TV Fool report so we can have a better idea of what signal conditions are at your location. The make and model of your antenna would be helpful also. http://forum.tvfool.com/showthread.php?t=4

On my Sony input settings menu, "cable, on or off" simply refers to the threaded f input connector on the back of the set for connecting your coax. Selecting "off" disables it completely whether the source is CATV or an antenna.
Could just be a terminology problem.
