i currently have a 30' mast i bought from antenna direct along with a xg-91 antenna and it's mounted on an eave of my house. I've had some issues out of this antenna and wanted to try another one, so i now have a Channel Master 4228HD.

My question is, will i need a different mount and if so, what's the best thing i need to buy for the CM? I've attached a pic so you can see how it currently looks.

Thanks for any advice

Is that a 30 inch J mount or a 30 foot J mount?? Really the best to do at this point is what the other question askers do --> http://forum.tvfool.com/showthread.php?t=4 . With the radar report , use your exact address and inter in the antenna height. So we can have a look at your reception situation. It helps use learn more about reception conditions every where. Any way , what can be done is get a pipe that will fit the inside or outside of the J mount pipe and drill a hole all the way through both pipes and put a bolt through.

here is the channnels i get: http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=29&q=id%3d03d9c6117eac23

It's a 30inch Mast, and I would say it's roughly 30ft. off the ground. I bought the xg91 because it was highly reccomended at the time, but here's my problem with it. It's very directional, and the direction i keep it pointed at is at Charlotte but the stations are 60+miles away. It picks up fine some days, but cloudy days or if its raining its bad...i also have 2 huge oak tree's that during the summer when all the leaves are out, causes some issues it seems but during the winter it was ok.

This is why i'm wanting to try this 4228 model, in hopes it will pick up some of the locals closer to me without having to shoot towards Charlotte. Obviously if i had a rotar it would fix my problem, but i don't have one and i don't plan to install one the way i have it right now. If i had it on a pole that was mounted in the ground i would, but not the way i have it now.

Someone mentioned I should buy this: http://www.solidsignal.com/pview.asp?mc=03&p=CM3092&d=Channel-Master-CM3092-3-ft-Tripod-Mount-with-Pitch-Pad-(CM3092)&c=Mounting%20Supplies&sku=

but with that it looks like i'll be drilling holes in my roof which i'm not so sure about that. I was also thinking maybe i could run a side mount right by that eave (not sure of size), somehow attach it with a bracket to the eave, and just do it that way vs. using a J-mount but again i just don't know...i was told by putting in an extension that 30inch one that mount will fail and damage both the home and the equipment due to excessive wind load..

Thanks for any info you can provide on this

There are Many different types of mounts. Here are a couple more mount types , http://www.eham.net/libraries/download/430/Photo_A.jpg , http://www.sadoun.com/Sat/Products/Perfect/PVEM1.gif. Here are places to buy mounts and etc. , http://www.3starinc.com , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.starkelectronic.com , http://www.amazon.com . If you can , move the antenna to a location that is not blocked by the trees.

The reception is resolved to the city level. An exact address will show you true reception situation. If you can not get a radar map with your exact address then go to the >>Start MAPS<< part of tvfool , move the pointer to location of your house and click , make radar map.
