I'd appreciate any advice on antenna selection for getting OTA LA area stations. Everything is red/gray signal strength and apparently I don't have line of sight to Mt. Wilson. Is it even worth trying? Thank you.

The reception situation looks very good if a antenna can be put on the roof. Is this a , house , condo , apt. , mobile home , motor home , etc. ?? How many Tv's will be connected??

Well any way , I recommend a Winegard HD7084P antenna and a Antennas Direct CPA19 amplifier mounted above the roof and aimed at about 277 true - 265 degree magnetic compass. Here are some pictures of different above the roof mounts , CM9067 chimney mount http://www.eham.net/libraries/download/430/Photo_A.jpg , eave/gable mount http://www.sadoun.com/Sat/Products/Perfect/PVEM1.gif , tripod mount http://www.antennacraft.net/Manuals/10Y203_manual_.pdf

I'd appreciate any advice on antenna selection for getting OTA LA area stations.

I'd suggest a 91 XG for UHF and a Y10-7-13 for VHF. Use a Winegard AP 2870 preamp, it has dual inputs for VHF and UHF antennas.

Is there any local programming on the LPTV stations that you would miss?

Mounting tip for the 91XG: aim the antenna up a few degrees so it points more towards the top of the hills. That puts the maximum gain of the antenna towards where the signals are coming from.

The HD7084P antenna receives VHF low band channels 2 thru 6 , KVTU-LP 3 is VHF low band . The other antennas suggested do not receive VHF low band , KVTU is America One Network , http://www.americaone.com

KVTU does not show up on the TVfool report when I click on the link.

The only low band station that can be received, KRPE, is not in line with Mt Wilson. You can add a third antenna, a Y5-2-6, aimed at KRPE, along with a HLSJ; but the question was how to pick up the LA stations.

Even so , here is the Wikipedia listing for KVTU , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KMCA-LP , and KVTU is in the direction that the antenna is pointed Mt. Wilson at 276 true - 264 degree magnetic compass. http://www.Kmca.us

KRPE is transmitting as a FM radio station , it is transmitting audio only. It can be received with a FM radio , the programing is Religion programing.
